Protect Mid-Size Pond Fish From Herons and Aerial Predators

Aquascape Bulk Protective Pond Netting (6.1 m x 30.5 m / 20 ft x 100 ft) is a UV-resistant fine-mesh pond protection net for mid-size water gardens and koi ponds. The greater width of this roll accommodates ponds up to approximately 5.5 m (18 ft) in one direction when laid with standard anchor overlap, making it well-suited to oval and rectangular mid-size pond shapes that require more coverage width than the 10 ft roll provides.

Wider Coverage for Larger Pond Footprints

Mid-size ponds in heron territory are at particular risk because their surface area is large enough to attract wading birds but the water is often shallow enough for herons to stand and feed. A netting installed with adequate overlap that prevents herons from accessing the perimeter eliminates this risk while still allowing rainfall and natural light to reach the water. The bulk roll format reduces per-metre cost compared to pre-cut nets of similar total coverage area.

How to Use

Cut to the required pond coverage dimensions, allowing a 30 to 45 cm (12 to 18 in) anchor margin on all sides. Stretch the netting taut and secure the perimeter with net pegs or heavy stones at 30 to 60 cm (12 to 24 in) intervals. For large flat ponds, use net support hoops to keep the mesh off the water surface and prevent it from sagging onto floating plants or fish that swim near the top. Inspect the anchor points seasonally, particularly after wind events, to confirm the perimeter seal is intact.

Ideal for mid-size koi ponds between approximately 9 and 37 m² (100 and 400 sq ft) in active heron territory, and for covering autumn leaf fall on larger ornamental water gardens.
