Biological Filter Kit for the 27-Inch Square Fountain Bowl

The Aquascape Fountain Bowl Biological Filter Kit for the 27" Sq (69 cm) bowl adds a biological filtration stage to the fountain bowl, housing beneficial bacteria that process fish waste and dissolved organic matter. The result is clearer water for longer between cleanouts, and a safer environment for small fish or aquatic plants in the bowl.

Biological Filtration for the Compact Fountain Bowl

Mechanical filtration captures solid particles, but dissolved ammonia and nitrite from fish waste pass through mechanical media unchanged. Biological filtration converts those compounds into less harmful nitrate, reducing water quality deterioration between maintenance cycles. The kit is sized to the 27" Sq bowl's filter cavity and includes the bio-filter media in the correct quantity for the bowl's water volume.

How to Use

Install the bio-filter kit into the fountain bowl's designated filter cavity following the included instructions. Fill the bowl, add beneficial bacteria starter culture, and allow 2 to 4 weeks for the bacterial colony to establish before adding fish. Rinse the bio media every 4 to 6 weeks in pond water (not tap water) to clear accumulated debris without killing the beneficial bacteria. Replace media annually at spring startup.
