Description
Atlas TTC303 Truck Tire Changer and WBT-210 Balancer: Single-Phase Power
Most truck tire changers assume three-phase power, and for a lot of independent shops that assumption is the end of the conversation — the machine is affordable, the electrical upgrade to run it is not. The TTC303 is 220 volt single phase. Both motors, the hydraulic and the chuck, are 2 HP running at 220v within ±5% — that is 209 to 231 volts — on a 30 amp breaker. If your building already runs a compressor and a two-post lift, it will almost certainly run this.
That is the practical reason this package exists at the price it does, and it is the first thing to check on any competing machine. Paired with it is the computerised WBT-210 spin balancer, so the tire comes off, goes back on and gets balanced without leaving the bay.
What the TTC303 Handles
This is a super duty truck tire changer with an electric/hydraulic self-centring four-jaw chuck and five different rim locking positions. Clamping power is 13,173 lbs and bead breaker force is 5,930 lbs, at operating pressure up to 1885 psi, with a maximum wheel weight of 3,300 lbs. Acoustic pressure is 70dBA. It ships at 1,800 lbs.
Unlike the automated machines further up the Atlas range, tool arm and tool head positioning here are manual. That is a real difference in daily handling on very large tires, and it is the honest trade for the lower price and the simpler power supply. For a shop doing commercial truck tires rather than earthmover rubber all day, it is usually the right trade.
Check the Minimum Rim Size Before You Order
Published figures for the rim range differ, and the difference is not a rounding error:
| Figure | Where it is stated | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Rim range | Manufacturer product overview | 4-1/4 inches to 56 inches |
| Rim clamping range | Specification table below | 14" to 46", or 47" to 56" with extensions |
The specification table is the more detailed of the two and separates direct clamping from clamping with extensions, which the overview does not. If the small end of that range is why you are buying the machine, confirm the minimum rim size with us before you order and we will get it from Atlas in writing. Maximum tire diameter is stated consistently at 90 1/2" (7' 6 1/2"), in excess of 90 inches, with a maximum tire width of 42".
Where the Machine Comes From
Atlas describes this changer as the product of a joint venture between an Italian wheel service manufacturer and an Asian wheel service equipment manufacturer, sold internationally for several years. Provenance is not something most listings in this category mention at all, and it is worth a moment: a design that has been in international service for years has had its wear points found by other people's shops rather than by yours. Construction is a single-piece frame with a solid floor plate, which is what the clamping and bead-breaking forces react against.
The WBT-210 Balancer: Both Ends of the Yard on One Shaft
The reason to take the balancer as part of this package is range. At one end it will balance a 14 inch steel rim off a pickup; at the other it will take a semi-truck tire weighing 300 pound. Oversized custom wheels around 32 inch, and the deep-lug mud tires fitted to them, sit comfortably between those extremes.
The shaft is 40mm heavy duty and takes the standard mounting cones used for cars and light trucks, with cone sets supplied for both. Large truck adapters come with the package for mounting most BUDD style wheels, and a cone and spacer set covers truck, bus and implement tires. A pneumatic wheel lift is fitted — an external air supply is required and is not included — which is what makes handling a heavy truck tire a one-person job rather than a two-person one.
Working ranges are 43" maximum tire diameter, rim sizes 10" to 30" for cars and light trucks, and rim widths from 1 1/2" to 20". Maximum wheel weight is 165 lbs. The machine balances at 130 RPM with a 7 second cycle, reads to 1 gram with weight position resolution of 1.4 degrees, offers static and dynamic modes plus rapid optimization, and self-diagnoses and self-calibrates. Data entry is Super Automatic 3D, display is in grams or ounces and mm or inches, and it starts and stops automatically with the hood. Power is 110 volt; it ships at 290 lbs.
Will It Fit?
- Power for the changer. 220v single phase, 30 amp breaker, tolerance 209 to 231 volts. This is the specification that makes the machine practical for an independent shop — confirm your supply with an electrician, but you are unlikely to need an upgrade.
- Power for the balancer. 110 volt, an ordinary outlet.
- Air. The balancer's pneumatic wheel lift requires shop air, which is not part of the package.
- Floor and clearance. The changer is 1,800 lbs on a solid floor plate. Allow working radius for a tire up to 90 1/2" across, which is a larger circle than a floor plan usually suggests.
- Your responsibility. Confirming supply, air and floor before delivery is the buyer's.
Perfect For
- Independent truck and trailer shops without three-phase power, which is the case this machine is built for.
- Fleet maintenance shops handling their own tire work rather than sending it out.
- Tire dealers expanding from passenger and light truck into commercial sizes.
- Agricultural and municipal garages needing the 56" clamping range with extensions occasionally rather than daily.
What's in the Box
- TTC303 super duty truck tire changer with bead breaker and mount/demount head
- Wired mobile control unit
- Heavy duty tire tool
- Rim clamps for steel and alloy wheels, and an alloy rim adapter set with plastic inserts
- WBT-210 computerised spin balancer with pneumatic wheel lift
- Cone sets for car and light truck tires; cone and spacer set for truck, bus or implement tires
- Plastic quick release nut and heavy-duty steel wing nut
- Wheel weight pliers and wheel width caliper
Not included: the external air supply for the balancer's wheel lift, and the clamping extensions needed for the 47" to 56" rim range — ask us about those at the time of order if the large end of the range matters to you.
Certification
The product data for this package does not claim an independent third-party safety listing, and we would rather say so than let one be assumed. For wheel service equipment it is a purchasing requirement less often than it is for vehicle lifts, but it appears in some fleet contracts and some insurance schedules. If a listing is required of you, have it named in writing and speak to us before ordering so the position can be checked with Atlas.
Shipping and Delivery
Freight to the lower 48 states, as two separate items: the changer at 1,800 lbs and the balancer at 290 lbs. The changer is a forklift job — a driver will not and cannot unload it. Where a site cannot receive freight, terminal pickup or one of our warehouse pickup locations lets you collect with your own equipment.
Residential delivery carries a residential fee. Freight is quoted live at checkout against your ZIP code, so the price shown is the real cost of your lane rather than an average.
Inspect and count before signing. The accessory carton — cones, adapters, pliers, caliper — is the one most likely to be short, and the one you will need on the first job. Any shortage or damage goes onto the bill of lading in front of the driver, in writing.
Warranty
Both machines carry 1 Year Parts Only cover. Atlas keeps replacement parts and wear items for the balancer in stock, which on a machine used every day matters more after the warranty ends than during it. Terms and the claim process are on our warranty claims page.
If something fails, leave it assembled until the claim is open. A chuck, a hydraulic unit or a balancer head that has already been stripped is the usual reason a real fault ends up outside cover. Photograph it, describe what it did, and call us before you reach for a wrench.
