Description
BendPak 10AP-168: the one decision you make once, and cannot revise
Nearly everything about a two-post lift can be changed later. Arms adjust, pads stack, the power unit can be moved. The column spacing cannot. The 10AP-168 ships with an expandable top beam that installs in either a narrow or a wide configuration, and the choice is made the day it is bolted down — 135 in. / 3,429 mm or 145 in. / 3,683 mm overall, 108.25 in. / 2,750 mm or 118.25 in. / 3,004 mm between the columns, and a drive-through clearance of 92 in. / 2,337 mm or 102 in. / 2,591 mm.
Getting one lift with two footprints is genuinely useful, and it is the reason to think about your bay rather than your cars. Narrow gains you floor space either side and suits a wall-adjacent installation; wide gains you door clearance and lets a full-width pickup come through the columns without a shuffle. It is a 10,000 lbs / 4,536 kg lift either way.
Will It Fit?
The overhead beam sits at 168 in. / 4,267 mm, which is the shortest of the tall-beam options in this family and the reason this model suits a bay that will not take the taller variants. Measure to your lowest obstruction — strip lights, a garage door track, a duct run — and not to the roof deck, because that is what people get wrong. Outside the columns you need 127 in. / 3,226 mm or 137 in. / 3,480 mm depending on the configuration you choose. Power is 220 VAC, 60 Hz, 1 Phase, and the power unit is quoted at under 70 dB.
Our record does not state the concrete thickness or compressive strength required. On any two-post lift the entire load path ends at the anchors, so do not assume it — the figure is in the installation manual linked on this page, and we will confirm it in writing on request. Verifying ceiling, slab and circuit before ordering is the buyer's responsibility.
Check the working height before you order
Published figures for rise on this model differ, across three separate measurements. All of them are shown below, each beside the source that states it.
| Measurement | Where it comes from | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Rise at the carriage | BendPak specification, line A | 72.25 in. / 1,834.7 mm |
| Maximum rise under the arms | A separate field in our catalogue record | 72 in. |
| Lifting height, top of arms | A separate field in our catalogue record | 6.5 ft |
| Rise plus pad | BendPak specification, line B | 79.5 in. / 2,007 mm |
| Lifting height, top of pad | A separate field in our catalogue record | 80 in. |
| Rise plus pad plus 63 mm adapter | BendPak specification, line C | 89 in. / 2,261 mm |
| Lifting height with adapter | A separate field in our catalogue record | 90 in. |
The pattern suggests the catalogue fields have been rounded and the specification lines are the more precise, but that is inference rather than confirmation, so both are published here. If working height under this lift is a close call for you — if your creeper, your transmission jack or your own height makes half an inch matter — ask us to confirm the figures in writing before ordering and we will get them from the manufacturer. Note also that the three specification lines measure to different places: carriage, top of screw pad, and top of an adapter. They are not competing answers, they are three different questions.
Arms designed to get under the car, not just lift it
The arms are triple-telescoping, which is what gives them their range — front arms from 22 in. / 559 mm to 47.5 in. / 1,207 mm, rear arms from 29.5 in. / 749 mm to 57 in. / 1,448 mm. A three-stage arm retracts shorter and extends further than a two-stage arm taking up the same space, and short retraction is the half that matters on a low car, where the problem is fitting the arm in at all.
The Low-Pro design lowers the arm profile and drops the pad receivers below the arm's top face, so the arm can slide under a side skirt or a running board without scraping it. Minimum pad height is 4 in. / 102 mm. Bi-Metric construction lets you set the lift up symmetrically or asymmetrically without swapping arm sets — a genuine time saving on a mixed intake, since the asymmetric position swings the doors clear of the columns.
Pads, adapters and per-arm limits
Screw pads are double-telescoping and wind up by hand to meet uneven pick-up points. Frame cradle pads, built from heavy-duty steel with a textured polyurethane lining and fitted on 60 mm pins, are offered for trucks and SUVs with rectangular steel frames, along with medium 2.5 in. and tall 5 in. adapter pins that drop straight into the arms. All of those are accessories, not inclusions. Worth knowing before you load: maximum load per lift arm is 2,500 lbs / 1,134 kg, against axle limits of 5,000 lbs / 2,268 kg.
Perfect For
- Home garages with a tall but not enormous ceiling, where the beam height decides which lift is possible.
- Single-bay shops that need the column spacing chosen to suit the room rather than the catalogue.
- General repair work across a mixed intake of cars, crossovers and light trucks.
- Taller technicians, which the current copy names as a reason for the raised beam.
What's in the Box
Two columns with the expandable top beam and oversized 53 in. and 59 in. carriages; four triple-telescoping Bi-Metric Low-Pro arms with double-telescoping screw pads and drop ends; automatic arm restraints; safety locks spaced every 3 in. per column with single-point release; the padded overhead safety shutoff bar; 3/8 in. (10 mm) high-strength multi-strand galvanised steel equalising cable over oversized sheaves; and the electric-hydraulic HVLP power unit, powder coated. Frame cradle pads, adapter pins and the WSA-100 air and electric work station, with its four 110V outlets on 20 amp industrial GFI protection, are sold separately.

Certification
This model's feature list states that it is ALI certified. The meaning worth knowing is procedural: an independent organisation has assessed the design against a recognised lift safety standard, rather than the manufacturer attesting to its own product. That independent assessment is what insurers, fleet policies and some local code officials ask for by name, and what they will want on file is a certificate identifying a model and serial number — not a line on a product page, including this one. If you need that evidence, ask us in writing and we will obtain it before you commit.
Shipping and delivery
Freight only, to the lower 48 states. The cost is calculated live against your address during checkout, which is why no figure for it appears in this text.
The carrier delivers to the kerb and no further. Plan the unload before the truck is booked: a forklift on site, or collection from the freight terminal, which is frequently the easier option. A residential address carries a residential fee. Warehouse pickup can be arranged for this brand — call us to set it up. Inspect the shipment before signing and write any damage onto the bill of lading at the time.
Warranty
The warranty document that governs this lift is linked on this page — read the term and its exclusions there rather than relying on a paraphrase. Whatever the terms, do not dismantle a component you intend to claim on. Photograph it as found, leave it assembled and contact us first; a stripped part is the commonest way a valid claim is lost.
