Description
Bludee AC400 — R134A recovery, recycle and recharge
The AC400 is the entry point into the Bludee A/C line, and it is aimed squarely at the shop that still does most of its air-conditioning work on R134A. What separates it from a bench manifold and a set of gauges is not any single feature but the fact that the machine finishes the job on its own: you connect it, choose the cycle, and it recovers, evacuates, drains the used oil, injects new oil and recharges without a technician standing over it.
It is also the one machine in this family whose published footprint is internally consistent, which makes it the easiest to plan a bay around. If you are buying your first recovery machine rather than replacing one, that is not a trivial advantage — the commonest complaint about A/C equipment is where it ends up living.
Will it fit, and what does it need?
Plan on a cabinet of roughly 22" by 24" in plan, standing 41" tall (560 x 625 x 1048 mm), on castors, needing clear access to the front for the hoses and the printer. Power is ordinary: 110V at 60 Hz, a standard single-phase shop outlet, so there is no electrical work to budget for and no three-phase supply to find.
Two things to think about beyond the footprint. Give it somewhere it can live permanently rather than somewhere it gets pushed — a machine that gets shunted around a bay is a machine whose hoses get run over. And leave room to work at the front: the whole value of a walk-away cycle disappears if the machine has to be dragged out to reach the couplers. Site preparation, ventilation and a suitable supply are the owner's responsibility.
The automation is the reason to buy it
Every step this machine automates is a step a technician would otherwise have to come back for, and coming back is where A/C jobs lose their money.
The internal tank refills itself. On a manual setup, running the storage cylinder low stops the job mid-service. Here the machine tops itself up from the source cylinder without pausing what it is doing.
Air is purged automatically. Non-condensable gas accumulating in the storage tank is the slow poison of a recovery machine — it raises head pressure, ruins charge accuracy and is completely invisible until a customer complains that the system does not cool. Purging it on a schedule the machine decides is far more reliable than purging it when someone remembers.
Oil out, oil in, on the record. The machine drains used oil and injects new, so the amount that came out is measured rather than estimated. That is the difference between a system returned to specification and a system returned to roughly where it was.
Vacuum, then a leak test. A vacuum leak test identifies gross leaks before refrigerant goes in, which is by far the least expensive moment to find one.
Add the onboard scales, the built-in thermal printer and a comprehensive A/C capacity database covering passenger vehicles, and the technician's job becomes hooking up, picking the vehicle and coming back to a printed record.
Confirm the recovery figure before you order
Published figures for recovery efficiency differ. The manufacturer's marketing text for the AC400 states 95% recovery efficiency; the specification table on this page states 99% to medium vacuum. Both come from the same manufacturer, and both are printed here exactly as supplied, each attributed to its source rather than averaged or chosen between. If recovery efficiency is a number your purchase or your compliance depends on, confirm it with us in writing before you order — we will get the current figure straight from Bludee.
Perfect For
- Independent repair shops whose customer base is still overwhelmingly R134A and who want A/C work handled properly rather than subcontracted.
- Growing workshops buying their first automatic machine, where the walk-away cycle frees a technician for other work.
- Fleet and municipal garages servicing an older vehicle mix, where volume is steady and printed records matter.
- Second bays and satellite sites needing a capable R134A machine without the premium platform's flushing hardware.
What's in the box
The AC400 machine with its internally installed tank, onboard electronic scales, built-in thermal printer and the vehicle capacity database. The manufacturer's manual is linked in the page's spec fields. Refrigerant, oils and dyes are consumables and are not supplied with the machine. Nothing else is itemised by the manufacturer, so nothing else is claimed here — if a particular hose set, coupler or adapter matters to you, ask us to confirm it before you order.

Certification and compliance, stated honestly
No third-party performance listing for this machine appears in the information we hold, and this page does not imply one. That is worth saying plainly, because recovery equipment is an area where a shop may be held to a documented standard — some warranty programmes, insurers and jurisdictions require equipment assessed against a recognised recovery and recharge standard, and a manufacturer's own performance claim is not the same document as an independent assessment. If that applies to your shop, establish the requirement before you buy. We will ask Bludee for their compliance documentation and pass on whatever comes back, without embellishing it.
Delivery and pickup
This is crated equipment, so it moves as freight rather than parcel, to the lower 48 states. Freight is quoted live for your address during checkout, and a residential delivery carries a residential fee — if the machine is going to a home address or anywhere without a dock and a forklift, tell us in advance so the delivery is arranged around what you can actually receive. Terminal pickup is usually the simplest answer. Inspect the crate before you sign the bill of lading and note any damage on it while the driver is present; a clear signature makes a freight claim very difficult to pursue.
Warranty
Terms and the claim process are on our warranty claims page. If a fault appears, contact us before the machine is opened up. Recovery equipment contains a sealed refrigerant circuit, calibrated load cells and a pressure vessel, and a machine that has been dismantled before it is assessed is a machine that can no longer be assessed — disassembly ends the warranty and usually ends the argument with it.
