CEMB SM645HP2: the column sets itself, so the operator does not
Most of the time lost on a tire changer is not spent changing tires. It is spent adjusting the machine between them. The SM645HP2 is built around removing that: the mount-demount arm sits on an automatic locking tilt column that re-positions itself for the next wheel with no adjustment from the operator, and the press arm system deals with the sidewalls that would otherwise need a second pair of hands.
This is the single-sided press arm build of the 645 platform — press arm, press follower and tire lifter discs — and it takes a wheel up to 15" (380 mm) wide. That combination is aimed squarely at a shop with a broad fitment mix and no time to re-set a machine four times per set of wheels.
Why an automatic column changes the day
On a manually adjusted changer, each new wheel diameter means unlocking the arm, moving it, and locking it again by eye. Every one of those is a judgement, and judgements made forty times a day drift. Set the head a fraction too close and it marks the rim; a fraction too far and the tire will not come over the flange, so the operator forces it and marks the rim anyway.
Automatic locking takes the judgement out. The column tilts back, the arm returns to position, and the geometry is the same for the fourth wheel of a set as it was for the first. In a shop that measures itself on wheels-per-hour that is a throughput feature; in a shop that measures itself on damage claims it is a quality feature. It is usually both.
The single-sided press arm system
The HP2 package comprises the press arm, the press follower and tire lifter discs, and its purpose is one specific physical problem. A tire can only be mounted or demounted while the bead opposite the mount head is held down in the deepest part of the rim well. Stiff sidewalls — high-performance fitments, run-flats — will not stay there on their own, and deep drop-centre wheels make the well harder to reach into.
The press arm holds the bead where it needs to be, mechanically, for the whole rotation, and the follower tracks the movement. The lifter discs carry the weight of the tire during the operation. What that adds up to is a job one technician performs as a procedure, instead of two technicians performing it as a wrestle.
Clamping, bead loosening and inflation
Table clamping is by dual cylinders with a Space-Saver under-table adjustable range, so the clamping hardware lives beneath the table rather than crowding the working surface. That leaves room around the wheel for the press arm and for the operator's hands, and outside clamping runs 12"–26".
The bead loosening system is adjustable to the correct angle for the diameter and width of the tire being worked. That adjustability is what protects rim flanges: a bead loosening shovel arriving at the wrong angle puts its force in the wrong place, and on an alloy rim the wrong place is expensive. Inflation is via two-stage bead sealing jets, and the tire inflator has a built-in safety limiter — seating a bead is the operation on a tire changer where energy is being stored in something that can fail, and a mechanical limit on that is worth more than a procedure taped to the wall.
Drive
The turntable is driven by a heavy-duty high-torque 110 V motor and turns at 8-15 rpm. Two things follow from that. First, high torque at low speed is the correct arrangement for difficult work — the machine keeps turning against a bead that is resisting rather than stalling or snatching. Second, running on 110 V means many shops can site the machine on a supply they already have, which for a machine of this capability is genuinely unusual and removes a common installation cost.
Will it fit your shop?
Power is 110 VAC, single phase, 50/60 Hz. The machine also needs compressed air, at 115-145 psi, for the clamping cylinders, the press system and the inflation jets — so a proper air drop at the bay is not optional equipment, it is a requirement. Providing the electrical circuit and the air supply is the customer's responsibility, and the electrical connection should be made by a licensed electrician to local code.
Shipping weight is 950 lbs. Measure the route from where the truck can stop to where the machine will stand — doorways, thresholds and tight turns are the usual problem — and leave clear space behind the machine for the column to tilt and beside it for the press arm to work.

Every figure in those tables reconciles against the others in the manufacturer's published data — 15" really is 380 mm and 44" really is 1,118 mm. We say so because it is not true of every machine we sell, and where a specification contradicts itself we print the contradiction on the product page rather than choosing a side. There is nothing to print here.
Certification, stated plainly
The manufacturer's data for this changer states where it is built and that it is assembled and tested in the United States. What it does not include is a third-party North American safety listing, and we will not imply one by writing around the subject — a manufacturer's own declaration is a different document from an independent listing.
That matters when a third party writes the rules. Some equipment insurers, fleet policies and local inspection regimes ask for a named independent listing. If any of those apply to you, tell us before you order and we will confirm what documentation ships in the crate.

Two things are yours to arrange. The unload: this arrives crated and someone at your end needs a forklift or a dock, so if that is not you, tell us and we will set it up for terminal pickup. And the inspection: look at the crate first — corners, banding, wrap, whether the load has shifted — and note every mark on the bill of lading while the driver is still there.
Warranty
This machine is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty document is the authority on the terms. We are not going to summarise a coverage period here — a summary that drifts out of date is worse than none — so ask us and we will send the current document before you commit.
Standing advice: do not disassemble before you claim. It is a natural instinct to open something up and diagnose it, and it is also the fastest route to a denied claim.
