Description

Challenger 44030 — 30,000 lb, single-phase power, and the shortest footprint in the family

This is the entry point to Challenger's chain-driven four-post range and it is a genuinely different proposition from the models above it. Where the rest of the family needs three-phase power and a considerably longer bay, the 44030 runs a 3 HP motor on 208 - 230V single phase and occupies 24' 7.5" by 12' 5.5". For a great many independent shops that is the difference between owning a 30,000 lb lift and not.

The other number worth noticing is the runway spacing: 54" to 75". That is a wide spread — wider than the longer, heavier models in this family offer — and it is what lets a dual-rear-wheel chassis straddle the deck comfortably rather than being threaded onto it.

Two figures to confirm before you order

The bulleted feature list further down this page is Challenger's list for the whole 30,000 lb to 60,000 lb chain-driven range, so several of its lines describe the larger machines in that range rather than this one. Published figures differ in two places, and both are worth a moment before you buy:

  • Wheelbase. The series bullet lists 310" to 430"; the 44030's model-specific specification sheet lists a maximum wheelbase of 230".
  • Runway width. The series bullet lists 32" runways; the 44030's specification sheet lists 24".
  • Lock positions. The bullet describing ten lock positions is marked as applying to the 40K to 60K models, so it describes those lifts rather than this one.

Each figure is attributed above rather than adjudicated here. If wheelbase or runway width decides your purchase — and on a lift this size it usually does — confirm both with us in writing before you order and we will get the current factory sheet straight from Challenger. The specification table below reproduces the model-specific sheet.

Will it fit?

Length is 24' 7.5" and width is 12' 5.5" overall, with 132.5" clear between the inside faces of the columns and 233.75" from column to column along the bay. That drive-through figure is what governs whether vehicles leave the bay forwards. Columns stand 92" and the runways rise to 68" at the top of the deck; as always, measure your ceiling to the lowest fixture rather than to the structure, because a heater or a door track is what you will actually hit.

Concrete depth, concrete strength, the anchor pattern and the electrical supply are the buyer's responsibility. The electrical side is the easy part here — a single-phase circuit and a disconnect rather than a new service — but do not let that make the concrete an afterthought. A 30,000 lb rating is a 30,000 lb demand on the slab.

The deck

Runways are 24" wide and sit 9" off the floor, which is a low drive-on for a lift of this capacity and keeps the approach angle gentle. The ramps are diamond plate so that a cold or wet tyre still finds grip climbing on. Spacing between the runways adjusts from 54" to 75", covering dual-wheel commercial chassis at the top of the range and a narrower service vehicle at the bottom without changing hardware.

Lock positions run up each column so the deck can be set at a comfortable working height, and a single air-actuated control releases the column locks together rather than requiring somebody to walk the bay.

Chain drive with independent front and rear

A hydraulic power unit drives the lifting chains, and lever control lets the front and rear halves of the lift be raised together or separately. On a chassis carrying its weight at one end — a service body, a tipper, a crane mount — that means the vehicle can be brought up level instead of climbing nose-high. Level is what you want under a vehicle you are about to work beneath, and it is what any measurement taken on the deck depends on.

Perfect For

  • Independent commercial shops that need heavy capacity without a three-phase service.
  • Dual-wheel work — the 54" to 75" runway spread is aimed at exactly this.
  • Tight bays where 24' 7.5" fits and the longer models in the range do not.
  • Medium-duty fleets whose vehicles sit inside the 230" wheelbase limit — check that figure carefully, because the series bullet list overstates it.

What ships, and what is optional

The lift arrives as columns, runways, approach ramps, the power unit and the lock-release hardware. Rolling jacks and an oil drain pan are separate purchases across the family. Columns are supplied in black; no other finish is offered.

Certification, stated as we actually have it

Our product data for the 44030 does not record an independent third-party safety listing for this model, so this page does not claim one. That is a meaningful distinction rather than a legal formality: an independent listing means a testing body examined the design and issued a document about it, whereas a manufacturer's own declaration is a statement about its own product. Insurers, fleet safety programmes and some local inspection authorities require the independent kind by name. If that applies to your shop, tell us before ordering and we will get Challenger's current position in writing rather than guessing here.

Freight and delivery

Shipped as freight within the lower 48 states, priced live at checkout for your address rather than quoted in this description. You are responsible for unloading — a forklift with the rating and reach for the crate, or a terminal collection arranged with the carrier. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee. Inspect the shipment against the bill of lading before you sign: count the pieces, look for crushed or bent steel, write anything you find on the paperwork while the driver is still there, photograph it and contact us the same day.

Warranty

Warranty is handled by the manufacturer and claims begin at our warranty claims page. Keep a suspect part assembled until the claim has been registered — once it has been taken apart it usually cannot be inspected as failed, and that is how a clear claim becomes an argument.
