This check valve body is needed for wands that have threads only on the inside of the jet ports. Without this part, you cannot properly assemble the parts needed on your carpet wand. Once this check valve body is inserted, you can attach a check valve with strainer, either a heated or non-heated jet tip, and finally a check valve cap. If you are experiencing poor performance, disassemble the jet ports on your carpet wand and inspect all of the parts. It is important that all of these pieces are clean and free of debris. If any of them are pitted or corroded, it is time to replace them! Again, this check valve body is only needed on carpet wands that do NOT have externally threaded ports. Please take a look at the image below to understand if this part is applicable to your carpet wand.

The carpet wand below has externally threaded ports. If your wand's jet ports look like the one below, this check valve body is NOT needed. However, if you have threads on the inside of your ports, this part is needed in order to connect the rest of the parts.
