Description
Three ways to power it, and only one of them runs down
The Coolee CL-240 arrives with two power cords in the box, 110V and 12V, sitting alongside its own rechargeable battery. That is the detail worth choosing it for. A portable cooler that runs only on its internal cell has a countdown attached to it, and the countdown always finishes at the least convenient moment. This one can be plugged into household power at a cabin or a shop wall, fed from a 12V supply, or picked up and carried off with no cord at all. Which of the three you use is a decision you make on the day rather than a limit built into the hardware.
The CL-240 is a 3-in-1 machine in the literal sense: a powered air cooler, an insulated ice chest and a Bluetooth stereo speaker sharing one soft-sided case. The camo finish is the version for people who are taking it outdoors rather than parking it in a corner of a workshop.
Before you order: what it needs to work
There is no installation, no clearance and no electrical work involved here, but there are three practical conditions worth checking before the box arrives, and confirming them is the buyer's job rather than ours.
- Ice, every time. The cooling comes from ice and water in the bin. The fans move chilled air; they do not manufacture cold. If there is no ice source where you are going, this is a fan and a speaker.
- Your 12V connector. A 12V cord is supplied, but low-voltage sockets are not standardised across vehicles and boats. Check the supplied connector against the socket you intend to use before you plan a trip around it.
- Somewhere to set it down. It is designed to be carried and to sit on the ground, a tailgate or a deck. It is not a fixed installation and it is not weatherproof-rated in the data we hold, so treat it as equipment you bring in at the end of the day.
How the cold actually gets to you
The bin is a polyethylene thermal-insulated ice cooler holding 14 quarts of drinks and ice, wrapped in a soft-sided case built from high-density, abrasion-resistant fabric for leak-proof performance. A zippered open-top lid closes it up. That much is an ordinary, well-built cooler.
What sits on top of it is not ordinary. Two high-airflow brushless fans, each with independent 3-speed control, draw air across the chilled interior and push it out through directional nozzles. The manufacturer's figure for the result is air up to 35°F below the outside temperature. There are two cooling modes to get there: ambient air cooling, which simply uses the chilled air already inside the cooler, and a recirculating water mode that runs a micro water pump, a heatsink and a heat exchanger so the cold in the melt water is put back to work instead of being wasted. Optimised air-balance fan blades handle the airflow and pressure side of it.
Air amplifiers are included for the times a gentle breeze is not what you want. They raise the velocity of the airflow, which is the difference between cooling the space around the cooler and putting cold air on a person.
Brushless fans and a shielded pump: why the components matter
Two component choices in this unit are worth understanding, because they are the ones that decide whether you are still using it in three summers' time.
The fans are brushless. Brushed motors wear their brushes down, and in a device that runs for hours at a time in dust and humidity, that wear is the usual failure point. Brushless motors have no such contact surface to consume. They also draw less current for the same airflow, which matters directly here because everything is coming out of one battery.
The water pump uses a shielded impeller, which improves efficiency at low noise levels. This is the part people underrate. A cooler you can hear over conversation gets switched off, and a cooler that is switched off is not cooling anything. A quiet pump is what keeps the recirculating mode running while people are actually talking around it.
Power and runtime
The battery is a super-polymer rechargeable 10,000mAh lithium-ion pack, rated for up to 6 hours. Fan speed, cooling mode and speaker use all draw on the same pack, so treat that figure as an upper bound rather than a promise for every setting. The 110V and 12V cords supplied in the box exist precisely so that the battery is not the only answer: on a long day, run it on a cord and keep the charge in reserve.
The speaker, and why it is built in rather than bolted on
Weather-resistant Bluetooth stereo speakers are standard on the CL-240 and stream music, radio or podcasts from a phone. The argument for integrating them is straightforward: it is one fewer object to carry, one fewer thing to charge, and one fewer thing to leave behind. It is not a substitute for a dedicated sound system and is not presented as one.
Carrying it
A detachable shoulder strap and sturdy side handles are fitted. Loaded with ice and water, this is a two-hands-or-a-shoulder item, and the strap is the reason it can be moved from a vehicle to a site in one trip.
Perfect For
- Tailgating, camping and the beach - drinks, ice and directed cold air from one case, with the camo finish that suits the setting.
- Boats and open vehicles - the 12V cord means it does not have to live on its battery all day.
- Hunting camps and job sites - somewhere with no wall socket, where the cooler is doing the drinks job anyway.
- Garages, patios and workshops without air conditioning - a spot-cooling option for a work area that has power but no ductwork.
What's in the Box
Per the manufacturer's own contents list: the CL-240 cooler, air flow nozzles, a 110V power cord, a 12V power cord and a user manual. Ice and water are not included, which sounds obvious and is worth saying anyway, because they are what the machine actually runs on.

Certification, stated honestly
The product data we hold for the CL-240 records no third-party safety listing or independent test mark, so this page does not claim one. That is a statement about our data, not a criticism of the product. If you are buying for a workplace, a rental fleet or anywhere with a documented equipment policy, ask us before you order and we will chase down what the manufacturer can actually evidence in writing. What we will not do is put a mark on a page because it looks reassuring.
Shipping and delivery
We ship to the lower 48 states. Freight is quoted live at checkout for the address you enter rather than estimated in advance, and a residential delivery carries a residential fee where one applies. Whatever arrives, inspect the carton before you sign for it: note any damage on the delivery paperwork at the point of handover. A signature on a clean receipt is the carrier's evidence that the goods arrived intact, and it is very hard to argue with afterwards.
Warranty
Warranty terms for this unit are held on our warranty claims page rather than stated as a term here, because we would rather point you at the current document than print a period that may have changed. One rule holds regardless of the product: if something fails, do not take it apart before the claim is filed. A disassembled unit is routinely refused, and it is the most common way a valid claim becomes an invalid one.
