Description

Corghi Artiglio Master J Touchless Tire Changer

The Artiglio Master J is the narrow Artiglio. At 44.65 inches across, it is aimed at the shop where the constraint is floor width rather than budget - the bay with a wall on one side, a balancer on the other and no realistic way to give a tire changer a metre of clear air per side. What makes that interesting is that nothing has been given up in the working end to achieve it: the turntable still delivers 811 ft-lb, the bead breaker still opens to 18 inches, and the head still never contacts the rim.

That last point is the family trait and the reason the Master J exists. The patented leverless system with the SMART Corghi device does two things during a job: it keeps the tool off the rim during every working phase, and it annuls the tension in the tire while the bead is being demounted or mounted rather than overpowering it. Many machines are marketed as leverless. Not touching the rim is the narrower and more useful claim, and it is the one worth testing when you compare quotes.

Will It Fit?

The Master J occupies 44.65 inches of width, 74.96 inches of depth and stands 71.42 inches high, and weighs 881 lbs (400 kg). Because the pedals, the console and the wheel-loading position are all on one face, the working clearance you need is asymmetric - generous on the operator side, minimal behind. Power is listed as 110 V, single phase, 50 Hz, and the machine needs a compressed-air supply at 130 psi. Ask us about that frequency line before you order if your incoming supply runs at the standard North American rate; it is a question worth resolving in writing rather than on installation day.

Two practical points that decide the install: the machine weighs 881 lbs, so plan how it comes off the truck and across the floor, and confirm your air compressor can actually hold 130 psi under load rather than peak to it. Verifying the door width, the floor and the electrical supply is the customer's responsibility - we can quote freight but we cannot survey your building.

Torque is what breaks a stubborn bead loose

The turntable produces 811 ft-lb and runs at two speeds, 7 rpm and 18 rpm. The two-speed arrangement matters more than the top figure. Fast is for the routine part of the cycle where nothing is fighting back; slow is for the moment when a stiff sidewall or a corroded bead needs the torque applied deliberately, at a speed where the operator can see what is happening and stop. A single-speed machine forces a compromise between those two jobs and usually gets it wrong at the point where the wheel is most likely to be damaged.

The bead breaker opens to 18 inches (457 mm) with a 17.7 inch (450 mm) stroke, and delivers a listed force of 1,710 (776 metric) at the disc. That range is the specification to check against the widest assemblies you handle, because a bead breaker that will not reach is a machine that will not do the job at all, whatever else it can do.

What the wheel actually sees

The clamping system is described as safe and universal, with an axial mounting turntable, and the machine handles rims from 12 to 26 inches with tires up to 40 inches (1,016 mm) in diameter and 15 inches (385 mm) wide. Bottom-bead demounting is part of the design, along with a bead depressor and a wheel lifter, and the whole layout is built around a fixed work position so the operator is not walking a circuit around the machine while a wheel is clamped to it.

One thing to be clear about: the Master J is available in electric only. There is no pneumatic-drive version of this model. For most shops that is irrelevant or an advantage, but if you are replacing an air-driven machine on a bay whose electrical supply is already at its limit, it is the first thing to check rather than the last.

Perfect For

  • Narrow bays where a wide machine has already ruled itself out.
  • Independent tire shops moving off lever machines because alloy damage is costing them money.
  • Service departments that need touchless capability without the footprint of a flagship machine.
  • Shops with a stable crew - the two-speed turntable rewards a technician who knows when to use the slow setting.

What's in the Box

Our data lists as part of the machine: the display panel, the bead breaker, the demounting and mounting tool, the safe and universal wheel clamping, the axial mounting turntable, bottom-bead demounting, the bead depressor, the fixed work position layout and the wheel lifter. That is the feature list as our record has it. It does not name loose accessories, protectors or adaptors, so treat anything beyond that list as something to confirm with us in writing before you order rather than assume.

Certification, stated honestly

There is no third-party safety listing recorded against this machine in our product data. We are stating that as an absence in our records, not as a finding that no such approval exists - the manufacturer may hold documents we do not have a copy of. What we will not do is imply a listing we cannot produce on request. If your insurer, your landlord or a local inspector requires a particular certification, name it to us before you order and we will get the manufacturer's written answer instead of leaving you to discover it during an inspection.

Shipping and delivery

The Master J moves as freight to the lower 48 states, with the rate quoted live at checkout rather than estimated. Receiving it is the part to arrange in advance: you need a dock or a forklift, or you arrange to collect it from the carrier's terminal. Residential delivery adds a fee, which checkout shows before payment. Look the crate over before you sign for it and write any damage onto the bill of lading at the kerb. Signing clean and calling the next day is how freight claims are lost, and an 881 lb crate does get knocked about.

Warranty

Our data does not carry the warranty term for this machine, and we would rather leave a gap than guess at one. How a claim is opened with us is set out on the warranty claims page, and if you ask before ordering we will confirm the manufacturer's current terms in writing. Whatever those terms turn out to be, do not strip the machine down before a claim has been filed. A unit that has been opened up for self-diagnosis is the classic reason a covered fault stops being covered. Photograph it, call us, and let the claim start first.
