Description
CORGHI EM9580 PLUS LASERLINE WHEEL BALANCER W/TOUCHSCREEN DIAGNOSTIC
The operator types nothing in
The Corghi EM9580 Plus is a touchscreen wheel balancer for passenger cars and light trucks, and the thing that separates it from the machines a tier below is not the screen. It is that all three wheel dimensions are measured by the machine rather than entered by the person using it.
Most balancers automate part of this. A gauge arm reads rim diameter and distance, and the operator then measures rim width with a caliper and keys it in — or, more often on a busy afternoon, estimates it. The EM9580 Plus adds an automatic width measurement device that reads rim width without contact, so the last manually entered dimension is gone.
That matters because a balancer's arithmetic is only as good as the dimensions it is given. The machine cannot tell a mistyped rim width from a real one; it will calculate a confident, precise, wrong answer and the wheel will come back. Removing the keyboard from the process removes the single most common cause of a comeback that is not the machine's fault.
SMART-ARM and FSP
Diameter and distance are read by the SMART-ARM gauge running the FSP (Fast Smart Positioning) system, which also selects the appropriate balancing program from what it has measured. The operator brings the arm to the rim and the machine decides what it is looking at and how to balance it. On a bay doing volume the seconds saved per wheel are real, but the consistency matters more: a machine that chooses its own program has no Monday-morning setting and Friday-afternoon setting.
LaserBlade: where the weight actually goes
The EM9580 Plus carries a LaserBlade pointer that projects the weight placement position onto the inside of the rim, backed by an LED spotlight that lights up the rim interior while you clean and apply.
This closes the other end of the accuracy problem. Even with the dimensions right and the calculation right, the answer only holds if the weight is stuck exactly where the machine assumed. Applied a little off, the correction lands in the wrong place and the wheel is not properly balanced — with no feedback to warn the technician, because the machine has already reported a good result. A projected line removes the estimation, and the automatic wheel positioning system rotates the wheel to the correct angular position for application rather than leaving the operator to line up a mark by eye.
Will it fit your shop?
Maximum dimensions are 1452 mm long × 894 mm deep × 1861 mm high. Those are published in metric only, and we have deliberately not converted them: a converted number invented on a product page is how someone ends up measuring the wrong wall. Ask us if you want them in inches and we will confirm the conversion.
Leave clear floor in front of the machine: a 44" wheel needs rolling up to the shaft and lifting on, and the guard needs room to swing up and over. Level floor matters more than thick floor with any balancer — the machine resolves imbalance to a fraction of an ounce, and a unit that rocks gives readings that drift between cycles.
Power is a single-phase (1ph) supply, and the machine accepts a wide voltage range: 110-115V or 200-230V, at 50/60 Hz. That flexibility is genuinely useful in older buildings, but confirm what you have at the intended position before delivery.
Siting, levelling and the electrical supply are the customer's responsibility. Measure your bay against the figures above before ordering; we will gladly look at a floor plan with you, but the measurements have to come from your side.
Capacity and measuring ranges
Balancer data sheets confuse three different widths and two different diameters, so here they are separated:
- Maximum wheel diameter with the guard — 44" (1117 mm). The physical envelope.
- Maximum wheel width with the guard — 23.6" (600 mm). Also physical envelope.
- Rim diameter, measured automatically — 11" to 28" (up to 711 mm). What the gauge reads by itself.
- Rim diameter, setting range — up to 35" (889 mm). What can be entered when a rim is outside the measuring range.
- Rim width setting range — 1.5" to 20" (508 mm).
The shaft is 40mm and the wheel-to-machine support flange distance is 10.82" (275 mm). Check the shaft diameter against any cones, flanges or adaptors you already own before assuming they transfer from your existing machine — a small thing to get wrong, and an irritating one to discover on installation day.
Balancing speed runs up to 98 rpm, and the machine accepts a wheel weight up to 165 lbs (75 kg) with ground fastening.
Ask us for the machine's own weight before you plan a lift or a floor. The manufacturer's records we hold give the machine's own weight as the same figure as its maximum wheel weight, and those are two different quantities, so no machine weight is printed here. If you need it — for a mezzanine floor, a lifting plan or a freight question — ask us and we will get it confirmed straight from Corghi.
Perfect for
- High-volume tire stores where per-wheel seconds and consistency between technicians both show up in the day's numbers.
- Dealership service departments balancing expensive alloys where placement accuracy and rim appearance are part of the job.
- Shops with mixed-experience staff — the case for full automatic data entry is strongest where not every technician has ten years of practice.
- Performance and UHP specialists working wheels where a small placement error is felt at speed.
What's in the box
From what the manufacturer's current description of this model states, the machine is supplied with the touchscreen interface, the SMART-ARM gauge with FSP, the automatic non-contact width measurement device, the LaserBlade weight-placement pointer, the LED spotlight and the automatic wheel positioning system. We have not listed cones, flanges or adaptor kits, because the data we hold for this listing does not itemise them — tell us what you service and we will confirm in writing what ships in the crate before you order.

Certification and compliance, stated honestly
We do not publish an independent North American safety listing for this balancer, and we are not going to gesture at one with vague compliance wording. If an insurer, a corporate policy, a local jurisdiction or a customer contract requires shop equipment to carry a named third-party listing or meet a specific standard, resolve it before you order rather than after the machine is on your floor. Send us the exact requirement and we will ask the manufacturer for documentation in writing — and tell you plainly if it cannot be produced.
Shipping and delivery
The EM9580 Plus ships by freight within the contiguous United States, with the cost quoted live at checkout for your delivery address rather than estimated in this description.
Be ready to unload, or arrange to collect from the carrier's terminal. A crated balancer is not something a driver hands down from the tailboard, so have a forklift of adequate capacity available or choose terminal pickup. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee.
Inspect the crate before signing. Look for fork punctures, crushed corners, cut banding and any sign the load shifted in transit, photograph anything questionable, and write it onto the bill of lading with the driver present. This machine carries a touchscreen and optical measuring hardware, both of which dislike being dropped and neither of which announces the fact through an intact-looking crate.
Warranty
The machine carries the manufacturer's warranty. We have not printed a term length here rather than leave a transcribed number to go stale — the current process is on our warranty claims page, and we will confirm the coverage applying to your order in writing before you buy if you ask.
Do not dismantle the machine before making a claim. Opening up the measuring head, the touchscreen assembly or the drive to find a fault yourself is the most reliable route to a refused claim. Contact us with the serial number and a description of what the machine is doing and let us open it properly.
Get in touch for the machine weight, the dimensions in inches, or confirmation of which cones and flanges ship with it.
