Product Description

FR-77T-18: the same 7,700 lbs rack, in a bench that fits a shorter bay

The FR-77T-18 is not a smaller machine. It is the same tubular-deck frame rack, the same 7,700 lbs hydraulic tilt deck, the same pair of 10 Ton pulling towers and the same 10,000 PSI hydraulics as its longer sibling — built on an 18' bench instead of a twenty-foot one. Nothing about its capability is reduced. What changes is the floor plan.

Two feet of bench is the difference between a rack that fits your building and one that does not, and it is also the difference between walking around the vehicle and squeezing past it. For most shops the working perimeter, not the bench, is what actually runs out.

Measure the perimeter, not the rack

A frame rack's footprint is a misleading number. What the machine really occupies is the bench plus the ramp approach at one end plus the arc each tower sweeps as it is repositioned — and clear-floor construction with 360º pulling only pays off if that arc is actually free. If you have been trying to make a longer bench work by putting one side of it against a wall, you have been planning to give up half the reason you bought two towers.

At 18', most shops can leave the whole perimeter open. That is the argument for this model over the longer one, and the only reason to go longer is a vehicle that genuinely will not fit.

The tie-down grid, and why it changes set-up time

The deck carries multiple tie-down "precision cut" hole locations, and the anchoring system uses adjustable-height pinch weld assemblies. Together they decide how long a car sits on the rack before the first pull. A fixed-height clamp means shimming; a shimmed clamp moves under load, and movement at the clamp is measured error at the panel. Height-adjustable assemblies take the rocker where it sits, and a grid of anchor points means you put the clamp where the structure is strong rather than where the deck permits.

Deck loading is by hydraulic tilt with drive-on ramps included, so a non-running vehicle goes on with a winch rather than being lifted onto a fixed bench. A dead vehicle dolly and a universal wheel stand come with the machine for exactly that job.

Pulling: two towers, telescoping heads, overhead boom

Two 10 Ton towers with telescoping tower heads and adjustable collars let you set the pull at the height of the damage and lock it there. The overhead boom extension carries a chain above the vehicle for upper-body work. Two air/hydraulic pumps, each with a pressure gauge, let one pull be held while the next is rigged — and quick-disconnect fittings and hose connections mean re-rigging does not mean bleeding the circuit. Two 10' chains with hooks are included.

Will It Fit?

  • Length. 18' of bench, plus ramp approach and walking room.
  • Width. 82.68", plus tower swing on both sides.
  • Drive-on height. 19.70" bench height.
  • Air. 115 PSI pneumatic pressure range — check your compressor holds it under continuous use.
  • Floor. iDEAL publishes no concrete depth or PSI figure for this machine in the data we hold, so we will not print one. It is in the manual that ships with the rack, and meeting it is the buyer's responsibility.

Perfect For

  • Shops with a fixed bay length that still want two-tower capability.
  • Passenger-car and uni-body collision work, which is the bulk of what an 18' bench sees.
  • Body shops replacing an older single-tower rack in the same footprint.
  • Multi-bay shops adding a second rack where the floor plan is already committed.

Certification, stated honestly

There is no third-party safety listing claimed in iDEAL's data for this rack, and we are not going to let one be inferred. If your insurer, your fleet policy or your local authority requires listed equipment in the bay, get the requirement named in writing and bring it to us before you order rather than after the rack is on your floor.

Shipping and Delivery

Truck freight to the lower 48, at a listed 3,969 lbs on an 18' deck. You will need a forklift, telehandler or dock at the delivery point — the driver will not unload it, and neither weight nor length is manageable by hand. Terminal pickup is the fallback if your site has no equipment, and warehouse pickup is available at our iDEAL locations.

Inspect before signing: photograph any crushed or bent steel, check the towers, pumps, chains and dolly against the packing list, and record damage on the bill of lading in the driver's presence.

Deliveries to a residential address carry a residential fee, and freight is quoted live at checkout for your ZIP code rather than estimated.

Warranty

Terms and the claim route are on our warranty claims page, with the warranty document in this page's downloads. Do not disassemble a suspect part before the claim is opened — photograph it, leave it, and call us.
