Knowing the exact water temperature helps you time seasonal actions — starting beneficial-bacteria dosing when water reaches 10 °C (50 °F) in spring, adjusting feeding rates in summer, and preparing for winter shutdown as temperatures drop.

Optimise Biological Filtration

Nitrifying bacteria in your filter media are temperature-dependent. Below 10 °C they are nearly dormant; above 15 °C they are fully active. A working thermometer takes the guesswork out of seasonal transitions and helps you avoid overfeeding fish before the filter's biology is ready to handle the waste load.

Installation

Remove the old thermometer from the filter housing by pulling it straight out. Insert the new unit into the same port and press until it seats firmly. No tools or sealant required — the friction fit keeps it in place. Confirm the reading against a separate pond thermometer to verify accuracy.
