Bio-Matrix Biological Filter Media for Pondmaster Pressurized Filters, 8 lb

Eight pounds of Bio-Matrix plastic biomedia provides enough surface area to rebuild or significantly expand the biological filtration capacity of a Pondmaster pressurized filter. Beneficial bacteria colonize the porous, high-surface-area pieces and process ammonia and nitrite continuously as pond water passes through. Use to replace aging media, increase filter biological capacity, or seed a new filter installation.

Expanding Biological Filter Capacity

A filter's biological capacity is determined by how much colonizable surface area its media provides. When ponds are overstocked, fish are growing, or feeding rates increase through summer, the existing media bed may not keep up. Adding Bio-Matrix media increases the surface area available for nitrifying bacteria, improving water quality without upgrading the filter housing itself.

How to Use

Rinse in pond water before adding, never use tap water. Place in the biological media compartment of the filter. Allow 4 to 6 weeks for full bacterial colonization on new media. Replace no more than one-third of the total media bed at a time on established filters to avoid crashing biological filtration. Combine with aeration for best bacterial activity.

Suitable for all Pondmaster pressurized filter models. The 8 lb quantity suits medium to large filter chambers or supplemental additions to existing media beds.
