The PMK1700 is the highest-flow kit in the Pondmaster PMK series, pairing a 700 GPH pump with the PM1000 pressurized filter for ponds up to 2,000 gal (7,600 L) with moderate koi loads. The 700 GPH circulation rate provides the water turnover and surface agitation that koi need during warm Canadian summers when dissolved oxygen demand peaks. All components ship together with fittings for initial installation.

Higher Flow for Larger Ponds and Summer Performance

Koi produce significantly more ammonia in summer than in spring or fall due to higher feeding rates and elevated metabolic activity. The PM1000 filter in this kit processes more water per hour at 700 GPH than in the lower-flow PMK configurations, giving beneficial bacteria more opportunities to convert ammonia before it reaches stressful levels. The increased circulation also improves surface agitation and oxygen exchange through warmer months.

How to Use

Place the pump at the deepest point in the pond with intake elevated off the bottom. Connect to the PM1000 filter inlet and route the return to a waterfall or return jet. Run 24 hours a day without interruption. Backwash the filter every 2 to 3 weeks during peak summer and every 4 weeks in spring and fall. Monitor ammonia and nitrite after startup to confirm biological filtration is establishing correctly.

Ideal for established koi ponds from 1,500 to 2,000 gal (5,700 to 7,600 L) with moderate fish loads requiring robust circulation and reliable pressurized filtration.
