Quincy 453D80VCB23M QT MAX — 5 HP Two-Stage, 80 Gallon Vertical, 230V 3-Phase

Most compressors spend their working lives with nobody watching them. They sit in a back corner or a plant room, start when the pressure switch says so, and are noticed only when they stop. That is the argument for this particular build: the QT MAX carries a low oil shutdown switch that takes the machine off line before a falling oil level turns into a seized pump, an extra-capacity oil reservoir that gives the oil somewhere to cool and settle instead of cooking, and a factory magnetic starter whose thermal overload protects the motor from the slow, quiet faults — a stiff bearing, a dying phase, a blocked intake — that would otherwise cost you a motor rewind.

The specification around all that: a 5 HP motor on 230V 3-Phase, a splash lubricated cast iron two-stage pump rated at 17.2 CFM at 175 PSI, an 80 gallon vertical ASME receiver and an air-cooled aftercooler.

Automatic tank drain. Published details differ: the feature list and the detailed specification block both say the unit has one, and the block specifically records an electronic drain valve as fitted, while a separate field in the same record says it is not fitted. This one is worth settling, because standing condensate is what kills receivers from the inside, and a drain nobody has to remember is worth more than one that depends on a Friday afternoon. Fitting it in and feeding it

Upright tanks trade height for floor. This one occupies 37" by 24" and stands 74" tall, and you want clearance above that for the pump and the oil fill, not just enough to squeeze it under a beam. It weighs 680 lb assembled, which is a two-person-and-a-pallet-truck job at best and a forklift job in reality.

The supply is 230V 3-Phase. If your board runs at any other three-phase voltage, this is not your build and we would rather swap it now than argue about a burnt motor later. Why slow rotation is the quiet headline

Compressor pumps wear out for two reasons: heat and rubbing speed. Turning a pump faster is the cheap way to get more air out of a smaller casting, and it is also the fast way to a rebuild. This one is geared to run slowly, in cast iron, with aluminium heads to shed heat and a high-efficiency finned intercooler between the stages. Cooler air entering the second stage means less work and a lower discharge temperature, and lower temperatures are what let the manufacturer rate this pump beyond 50,000 hours of service.

Two-piece connecting rods keep the moving parts count down. Stainless steel reed valves resist corrosion and are the component most punished by heat, which is exactly why the cooling matters. None of this is dramatic. All of it is the difference between a compressor that is a fixture and one that is a recurring purchase.

What the aftercooler is for

Air leaving the pump is hot and saturated, and it dumps its water wherever it happens to cool — usually in your pipework. The air-cooled aftercooler brings the air back down before it enters the tank so the water condenses in the receiver instead. Downstream, that means filters and dryers with far less to do, cleaner air at the tool, and a great deal less rust in the lines. If you later add a refrigerated dryer, it will work in the conditions it was designed for rather than fighting a flood.

Our certification data for this product names ASME for the receiver and UL and CSA on the electrical side, and the feature list states US manufacture. That is all we will assert. There is no third-party listing in our records covering the complete assembled machine, and a component approval does not stand in for one however similar the logos look. Where an insurer, an inspector or a purchasing standard needs a listing on the finished unit, tell us before you order and we will ask the manufacturer for the certificate.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight only, lower 48, priced live at checkout for your actual address. Have the unloading sorted in advance — 680 lb on a pallet needs a forklift, a dock, or a trip to the freight terminal to collect it yourself. Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, and terminal collection often avoids a lot of scheduling.

Before you sign: walk the pallet with the driver, check the crating, the tank, the gauges and the starter box, and write any concern on the bill of lading there and then. A clean signature closes the door on a damage claim almost completely.

Warranty

There is a 1 year factory warranty on parts and labour. Adding the EWK-3 maintenance kit at the time of purchase and registering the machine extends cover under Quincy's 3-Year "No Bull" programme, with on-site service included. Because it has to be bought together, raise it while you are ordering — it cannot be bolted on later.

If a fault appears, please open the claim before the machine is opened. Nothing ends a warranty conversation faster than a pump that has already been apart.
