If you do not use a buffer pad, the bristles from the pad driver can gouge through that extremely thin strip pad and damage the floor. For the same  reason, this red pad must be used as a spacer with the \u003ca href=\"\/products\/square-scrub-abrader-plate-14x20\" title=\"Square Scrub Abrader Plate (14 x 20)\"\u003esquare scrub abrader plate\u003c\/a\u003e and all of our \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/sanding-screens\"\u003erectangular floor sanding screens\u003c\/a\u003e.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWhen used individually, these red square scrub pads remove light scuff marks and dirt while producing a high gloss shine. However, we do recommend that you \u003cb\u003euse 2 pads at the same time\u003c\/b\u003e, as this helps to lower the chance your scrub machine will accidentally contact the floor during use.  You get five 1\" thick pads per case with each case purchased. You can extend the lives of these pads by simply rotating them when they become slightly clogged when buffing, and by rinsing them out after each and every use.
