Description

Schulz V-Series 7580VV30X-3 7.5 HP 80-Gallon Two-Stage Air Compressor (460V)

Of the 80-gallon V-Series builds Schulz makes, this is the compact one. It occupies 39.3" by 25.2" of floor and weighs 565 lbs - noticeably less machine to move, and noticeably less floor given up, than the horizontal builds of the same pump. If the compressor has to live in a corner of a working bay rather than a plant room, that is the specification that decides it.

It is a 7.5 HP motor on 460V, three-phase, driving a solid cast-iron two-stage pump by belt into a vertical 80-gallon receiver rated to 175 PSI, with an after-cooler fitted as standard.

Flow: two figures to confirm before you order

Published free-air delivery figures for this model differ. This page lists 29 CFM at 175 PSI; the manufacturer specification block we hold for the same model records a different figure at the same pressure. The gap is small, but flow is the number a compressor is actually bought on, so it is worth settling first.

Size your tools against 29 CFM, the more conservative of the two figures we hold. If your tool list sits close enough to that ceiling that the difference matters - a cabinet blaster, a high-volume sander, two techs on air at once - contact us before ordering and we will get the delivery figure confirmed by Schulz in writing. That question is far better answered now than after a freight shipment.

Will it fit?

Plan area is 39.3" by 25.2" and overall height is 74.8". That height is the number to check, because it is what a vertical tank costs you: it is above a standard interior door opening, so the machine does not walk in upright through an ordinary doorway. It comes in through a roller door, or tilted on a pallet along a route you have measured first. Underneath the ceiling itself, watch for door tracks and springs, ducting, a lighting run or a mezzanine underside.

At 565 lbs it is the most manageable of this family on a pallet jack, but it is still far past what people can push around by hand, and a tall load is easier to tip than a long one. Set it on a flat, level slab, back it to a wall, and leave yourself access to the sight glass, the belt guard and the tank drain at the base of the column.

Establishing that 460V, three-phase supply is available at the intended position - and having the circuit sized and installed by a certified electrician, which is exactly where Schulz refers both the amp draw and the recommended breaker - remains the buyer's responsibility.

Why the after-cooler matters more on a small tank

An after-cooler chills the air on its way out of the pump so the water it is carrying condenses at the compressor, where the tank drain can remove it, instead of downstream in your hose. That is useful on any machine. It is particularly useful here, because a smaller receiver gives hot air less dwell time to cool and drop its moisture on its own; the after-cooler does deliberately what a large tank does slowly. It is fitted as standard on this model.

What it does not do is dry the air. Everything leaving it is still saturated at its new temperature, so a run of cold pipe will still produce water. For spraying or instrument work, add a drop leg and a dryer downstream. There is no air dryer and no electronic drain valve on this unit, and the tank outlet is 1/2".

The pump

Two-stage compression does the work in two steps with cooling in between, which is what makes 175 PSI a sustainable working pressure rather than a peak. The block is solid cast iron in the V-cylinder layout with deep fins for heat rejection; the valves are Swedish steel, the main bearings oversized, the components CNC machined, and drive is by notched belts inside an enclosed guard. Lubrication is a splash system with an oil sight glass and no low-oil shutdown, so the oil level is checked by eye on a routine rather than watched by a sensor.

Perfect For

  • Shops on 460V service with limited floor to spare.
  • Plant rooms and utility corners where a long horizontal machine will not turn in.
  • Second compressors added to an existing three-phase system.
  • Fabrication and finishing work that needs cooled air at the tank.

What is in the box

Strictly what the manufacturer lists: the compressor on an 80-gallon vertical receiver, a WEG electric motor, the V-Series solid cast-iron two-stage pump, an after-cooler, a magnetic starter, an inlet air filter, a pressure gauge, an oil sight glass, notched belts under an enclosed guard, and powder-coated components. Not included: air dryer, electronic drain valve, piping, filtration, hose, disconnect or installation.

Certification, stated plainly

The receiver and its safety valve carry the ASME pressure-vessel code stamp, and that is the certification this product claims. It is a real approval with a narrow scope: the vessel and the device that relieves it. It is not a third-party safety listing of the finished electrical assembly, and it is not something to show an electrical inspector in place of a compliant installation. If an insurer, a landlord or a customer contract names a particular listing for powered shop equipment, read that wording and check it against this machine before you buy, not afterwards.

Shipping and delivery

Freight only, to the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout once you enter a destination. The shipment is 565 lbs and travels upright on a pallet; the carrier delivers it to the truck tail and no further, so arrange a forklift or a dock, or choose terminal pickup and collect it yourself. Residential delivery is available with a residential fee added at checkout. Because tall loads shift, inspect this one before signing: look at the tank shell, the base ring, the guard and the gauge, photograph anything questionable, and note it on the bill of lading with the driver standing there. Schulz pickup is available in Acworth, GA. Call, text or chat with us - 866-774-7743.

Warranty

The unit is warranted for 1 year and the pump for 2 years, whether the use is consumer or commercial. Open a claim before you open the machine: a pump that has already been dismantled generally falls outside the terms and leaves nothing to inspect. Take the serial number down on arrival, keep it with the invoice, and log the oil changes - a short written history resolves most warranty questions before they become disputes.
