Look past the horsepower on this one and read the pump material line: solid cast iron. Across the Schulz screw range that is not the default, and it is the reason the SRP 3025 weighs 864 lbs while doing a job other machines do lighter. Cast iron is the choice a manufacturer makes when the air end is expected to spend its whole life loaded rather than cycling, and it is the honest reason to pick this model over a lighter one with a similar output figure.

What sits on top of that air end is a 25 HP motor turning out 89 CFM at 125 PSI on a continuous 100% duty cycle, all of it tank-mounted on an 80-gallon horizontal ASME receiver in an open, unenclosed frame. This listing is the 208-230 Volt three-phase build.

Why the pump material is worth reading

An oil-injected screw air end lives with two enemies: heat and distortion. The rotors run on tight clearances, and anything that lets the housing move under thermal load costs efficiency permanently — the air end does not wear out so much as it slowly stops sealing. Cast iron is dimensionally stubborn and it sinks heat well, which is exactly the pair of properties that matters here. It also damps vibration in a way lighter housings do not, so bearings and the belt drive see a calmer life.

The cost is mass, and Schulz has not tried to hide it. This is a heavy machine for its footprint. If you are choosing between models on paper, that weight is not overbuild for its own sake; it is where the durability argument physically lives.

89 CFM, and what continuous really means

The rating that changes system design is the duty cycle. A piston compressor is rated for part of each hour, so the number on its badge is not the number you may plan around. This one is rated to run every minute of every hour, so 89 CFM at 125 PSI is genuinely 89 CFM of usable supply.

At that output you are into whole-shop territory rather than one-machine territory: several bays of air tools at once, a blast cabinet, a paint line, or production equipment with a steady rather than intermittent draw. The air end is oil-injected and belt driven, oil lubricated, with a sight glass for the routine oil check.

Open frame, and what you trade for it

The 3025 is an open machine — a compressor and receiver as one 2-in-1 assembly, with no sound-attenuating cabinet around it. Two consequences, and they pull in opposite directions.

In your favour: every serviceable item is in front of you. Belts, cooler, sight glass, drain and electrical panel are reachable without removing panels or negotiating an enclosure's airflow design, which makes routine maintenance quicker and makes a fault easier to see. Cooling is also unrestricted by definition.

Against: an open screw compressor is a loud machine, and it will be heard across a building. Schulz publishes a dBA figure for this model, but it is recorded in the product data as a bare number with no unit attached, so we are not going to print it as a specification. If noise is a deciding factor for you, ask us and we will confirm the current figure in writing before you order — or look at the enclosed models in the range instead.

Will It Fit?

Overall the unit is 61" long, 26" deep and 60" high, at 864 lbs. Because the receiver is the chassis, there is no second tank to place and no interconnecting pipe run to have fabricated. The tank outlet is 1".

Floor first: this is a lot of weight standing on a small footprint, so it wants a flat, sound slab. A dip under one foot puts the frame in permanent twist. Then clearance — an open machine still needs air moving around it, and it needs room to swing a spanner on the belt guard.

Power is the item to resolve before the order, not after the delivery. The build takes 208-230 Volt three-phase. Schulz records both the amp draw and the recommended breaker as "consult a certified electrician", which is the correct answer rather than a gap in the data: the conductor size depends on your run length and your local code. Verifying the supply, the panel capacity and the breaker is the buyer's responsibility.

Control and starting

A 24 Volt microprocessor controller runs the machine, with adjustable operating parameters and a live readout instead of a gauge and an assumption. The automatic starter includes phase and sequence failure detection, which on any three-phase screw is a protection rather than a feature: reversed phases turn the air end backwards, and a screw running in reverse can be ruined in seconds. This one declines to start instead. A magnetic starter is fitted.

Certification, without the marketing

The receiver carries an ASME certification, and the product data records that as a certification field in its own right rather than as a line of prose. It means the pressure vessel was built and stamped to a recognised code, which is the assurance that counts on a tank sitting at 125 PSI in a room where people work.

Beyond the vessel, the data claims nothing. There is no record here of an independent third-party listing covering the packaged machine — motor, starter, controller and frame assessed together — and a tank stamp is a different document from that. We would rather say so than let a reader assume. Insurers, corporate facilities standards and some local electrical inspectors do ask for that second document on fixed plant. Plan the unload in advance. At 864 lbs this is not a two-people-and-a-ramp proposition, and the carrier's duty stops at the back of the trailer. A forklift or a loading dock is the straightforward answer; a pallet jack works only if the ground is level and hard. With neither, choose terminal pickup and collect it yourself. A home address counts as residential delivery and attracts a residential fee. We also hold Schulz stock for collection at Acworth, Georgia.

Do the inspection before you sign. Anything noted on the bill of lading in the driver's presence stays claimable; a clean signature closes that door.

Warranty

Keep it intact by keeping the machine intact. If the air end, motor or controller misbehaves, do not open it up first — a dismantled screw unit cannot be diagnosed after the fact, and the claim usually dies with the strip-down.
