Product Description
Topdon ArtiLink600 Automotive Computer Scan Tool
The line that separates a code reader from a diagnostic tool is not how many codes it displays — it is whether the tool can command a module instead of only listening to one. The ArtiLink600 sits on the useful side of that line: it runs ABS and SRS active tests, meaning it will tell a module to do something and let you watch whether it does.
That is the reason to choose this over the readers it shelves next to. A reader tells you a wheel speed sensor circuit has a fault. An active test cycles the pump and the valves so you can hear and see which corner responds, which turns a two-hour diagnosis into a ten-minute one.
What bi-directional control actually buys you
Topdon lists the active-test (bi-directional control) coverage explicitly rather than vaguely: Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Holden, Saab, US-Ford, GM, Nissan, Mercedes, Benz, Volvo, Land Rover and BMW. Read that list before you buy, because it is narrower than the read-and-clear coverage and it is the feature people buy the tool for.
Read-and-clear ABS and SRS diagnostics — ECU information, trouble codes, live data stream — span 42 car brands. On the maintenance side there are three service resets: oil service across 53 brands, steering angle sensor across 41, and battery management across 22. Those are the jobs a general workshop actually turns away for want of a tool: a battery replaced on a modern car without a management reset will not charge to the strategy the manufacturer intended.
The screen, the cable and where you work
The display is a 3.5-inch colour LCD at 320 by 480. On a handheld tool that size is a working decision rather than a bragging one: it is enough to plot a live data stream and read a code definition without scrolling a line at a time, on a device you can still hold in one hand while the other is on a wiring loom.
The diagnostic cable is 1185mm, or 46.65 inch, and that is the specification worth checking against your own habits. It is enough to reach from an under-dash port to the driver's seat, so you can sit in the car and drive a live data capture. It is not enough to reach from the port to a bench, and no scan tool cable in this class is.
The unit measures 8.46 by 4.49 by 1.36 inch (215 by 114.1 by 34.5mm) and weighs 535g, or 18.87 oz. Boxed for shipping it is 10.31 by 8.70 by 2.12 inch (262 by 221 by 54mm). It runs on vehicle power at 9–18V, so there is no battery to go flat between jobs — the tool wakes up when it is plugged in, which is the right design for something that lives in a drawer for a fortnight at a time.
Reporting, recording and the paperwork side
Three features here are aimed at the part of the job that happens after the fault is found. The tool sends diagnostic reports directly to a printer. It records and replays a live data stream, so an intermittent fault captured on a test drive can be reviewed slowly afterwards instead of chased in traffic. And freeze frame data is stored for later analysis.
Taken together those turn a diagnosis into something you can hand over. A customer being asked to authorise work believes a printed capture in a way they do not believe a verbal description, and a warranty department will not accept the verbal description at all.
Coverage, and the parts that stay current
The tool performs all ten modes of OBDII testing and covers emission-related faults on most modern cars built after 1996. A DTC lookup library gives full code definitions on the device itself, so a code you do not recognise does not send you to a phone. Single-click shortcuts jump straight to read and clear, I/M readiness and the help functions.
Diagnostic software updates are free for the lifetime of the tool. On a scan tool that is a running cost avoided rather than a feature: coverage that is not updated stops matching the cars arriving at the door, and a tool with a subscription attached quietly becomes an annual decision.
The menu runs in English, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, Russian, French and Portuguese, and there is a built-in speaker for audible feedback during tests.
Will it suit your work?
Three honest checks before you buy. Confirm your makes appear on the active-test list above if bi-directional control is why you are buying. Confirm the cable length suits where you like to sit. And be clear that this is an OBDII-era tool — vehicles built before 1996 are outside its remit.
Perfect For
- Independent general repair shops that need ABS and SRS work in-house rather than subcontracted.
- Technicians building a first serious diagnostic kit, where the step up from a reader to bi-directional control is the one that pays.
- Mobile mechanics and roadside technicians, for a handheld that runs on vehicle power with nothing to charge.
- Used car dealers and trade buyers checking codes, readiness monitors and airbag history before money changes hands.
- Serious home mechanics maintaining several vehicles who want service resets without a dealer visit.
What's in the Box
The tool and its diagnostic cable, at the length quoted above. The listing data does not itemise anything beyond that, so this page does not claim a case, a memory card or a printed manual. Ask us and we will confirm the current packing list before you order.

Certification and compliance
The data we hold for this tool does not name a third-party safety or conformity listing, and this page will not imply one it cannot evidence. That is worth saying rather than leaving blank, because some fleet and municipal purchasing policies require named documentation for workshop electronics before a tool can be issued. If yours does, tell us which document your policy asks for and we will obtain the current manufacturer paperwork before you order.
Shipping and delivery
A parcel-sized item, shipped to addresses in the lower 48 states or collected from the warehouse. Cost is calculated for your address during checkout rather than printed here, because carrier rates move and a number on a page goes stale. Open the box and check the cable and connector over on arrival, and note any damage on the delivery paperwork at the time — a bent connector is the sort of thing that is obvious on day one and arguable on day ten.
Warranty
Terms and the claim process are published on our warranty claims page. If the tool fails, contact us before opening the housing or repairing the cable. A scan tool that has been taken apart or spliced cannot be assessed, and a diagnostic cable in particular is a part where a home repair and a manufacturing fault look identical from the outside.
