Description

Tuxedo TC-430 Swing Arm Tire Changer

The TC-430 is the swing-arm answer to a tilt-back machine, and the difference is not cosmetic: the mount/demount tower swings out of the way sideways instead of pivoting backwards, so the machine needs clear floor beside it rather than clear space behind it. That single geometric choice is what makes it fit bays where a tilt-back column cannot go. It clamps a rim two ways — from the inside at 12" to 21", or from the outside at 10" to 18" — and the mount/demount tool is positioned by hand rather than by a powered assist, which is where the word “economical” in its name actually comes from.

Two clamping ranges, and why a shop wants both

Most rims can be held either way, but not every rim should be. Inside clamping puts the jaws against the inner lip and leaves the visible face of the rim untouched, which is the safer choice on a finished alloy. Outside clamping grips the outer edge and is the quicker, more secure option on a steel wheel or a rim with an inner profile the jaws cannot reach. The TC-430 covers 12" to 21" clamping from the inside and 10" to 18" from the outside, and having both ranges on one table means the operator picks the method that suits the wheel rather than the method the machine forces.

Overall capacity runs to a 38" wheel diameter (965 mm) and wheel widths up to 11". Check the width figure against your typical work before you buy — on a tire changer the width limit tends to bite before the diameter limit does.

Manual mount and demount, and what you trade for it

The mount/demount head on this machine is set and operated manually. This is a real trade, and worth stating plainly before you order: a powered helper arm is faster on stiff, low-profile sidewalls and reduces operator effort across a long day. What you get in exchange is a machine with fewer powered assemblies to service, fewer things to leak, and a lower purchase price. For a shop doing a handful of tires a day, or one where tire work is a sideline rather than the main trade, that is usually the better economics. For a high-volume tire bay it is not, and we would point you at an assisted machine instead.

The bead breaker is mounted on the side of the housing, and the clamps run on shop air through double-acting cylinders — pressure-driven in both directions rather than spring-returned, which is what gives a clamp a consistent grip and a positive release cycle after cycle.

Will it fit your shop?

Electrical service is a standard 110V, 15 amp, single-phase circuit. No high-voltage drop and no three-phase supply are needed, which is the practical reason this machine turns up in small independent shops and well-equipped home garages as often as it does in commercial tire bays. Verify the branch circuit is a true 15-amp run and is not shared with your compressor.

Air matters as much as power. Working pressure is 125 psi, and the compressor has to hold that under load while the clamps and the bead breaker are cycling. A tank that reaches 125 psi and then sags to well below it during a bead break will make the machine feel weak when the machine is fine.

Floor space is the swing-arm consideration. Leave clear, level floor to the side of the tower where the arm swings, not just in front of the table, and plan the position so an operator can walk a wheel to the table without turning it. The unit ships at 460 lbs; siting it, anchoring it if you choose to, and providing the power and air supply are the customer's responsibility.

Perfect for

  • Independent repair shops that do tires as part of general service rather than as the main business.
  • Small tire bays where the budget is real and the volume does not justify a powered assist arm.
  • Fleet and municipal yards servicing their own vehicles on a standard wall circuit.
  • Home and enthusiast garages with shop air and a 110V supply, especially where a tilt-back machine will not fit the floor plan.

What comes with it

The published inclusions are the swing-arm assembly with its manual mount/demount tool, the side-mounted bead breaker, and the air preparation set — water separator, lubricator and air pressure regulator. Those last three are the parts that keep moisture and grit out of the pneumatic circuit, and having them supplied rather than sourced separately is the difference between a changer that lasts and one that starts weeping air in its second year. Cones, adaptors and consumables are not stated in this model's data; ask us to confirm any specific accessory in writing before ordering.

Approvals: what our records actually say

Our data for this changer carries no third-party safety-listing claim, and we are not going to imply one. Shop equipment is not regulated identically everywhere, and some insurers, some employers' equipment policies and some local inspectors do ask for a specific listing before a machine goes on a commercial floor. If that applies to you, tell us which requirement you are working to and we will confirm in writing what documentation the manufacturer can supply for this model before you order.

Shipping and delivery

The TC-430 travels as freight within the lower 48 states, and the freight cost is calculated live for your delivery address during checkout rather than estimated. Before you order, settle the unloading question: at 460 lbs this comes off the truck with a forklift, a dock, or a terminal pickup that you arrange — the driver is not equipped to place it in your bay. A residential address carries a residential fee, applied at checkout. Warehouse pickup is an option if you would rather collect.

When the shipment arrives, inspect it before signing. Check the crate for punctures, crushed corners, loose banding and any sign the load shifted, and write what you find on the bill of lading at delivery. Damage noted on the BOL is a claim; damage discovered after a clean signature is an argument.

Warranty

Warranty handling for this model runs through our warranty claims page. The one house rule worth repeating: do not take a unit apart before you open a claim. A stripped cylinder or an opened control assembly is the most common reason an otherwise good claim gets declined. Photograph the fault, record the serial number, and talk to us first.
