Description

AMGO BP-10: a 10,000 lb two-post lift with nothing above the vehicle

Every two-post lift has to synchronise its two carriages somehow. Most run the cables and the hydraulic line across an overhead beam, which is why a typical 10,000 lb overhead lift stands somewhere between twelve and fourteen feet tall. The BP-10 runs them through a base plate across the floor instead, and the result is a lift whose tallest point is 111 7/8″. That is the entire proposition, and it is why this lift exists.

If a sectional door track, a run of ductwork, a low soffit or a plain low roof has been the reason you have not bought a proper two-post, this is the model to look at. It is a commercial-grade lift with the same 10,000 lb capacity and the same four three-stage arms as its overhead siblings - it simply routes its plumbing where your ceiling is not.

The trade you are making, stated plainly

A base-plate lift buys ceiling height by spending floor. There is a plate between the columns, and you drive over it every time a vehicle goes on the lift. A rolling floor jack, a drain pan on castors, a creeper and a toolbox all have to cross it. It is low and it is ramped, and in most shops it becomes invisible within a week - but it is real, and anyone telling you a base-plate lift is identical to a clear-floor lift is selling rather than explaining.

What you get back is a lift that fits under a ceiling that would otherwise rule out this whole category, and an installation with no overhead assembly to align. Which side of that trade you want depends entirely on your building, and it is worth being honest with yourself about it before the crate arrives.

Will It Fit?

Measure these against your own bay before ordering. The measuring is yours - we cannot see your building.

  • Ceiling. 111 7/8″ to the top of the columns. Measure to the lowest thing over the bay, not the roof deck. And note that the columns are rarely the real constraint: work from the maximum lifting height plus the roof height of the tallest vehicle you intend to service, because that is what actually reaches your ceiling.
  • Floor width. 139 1/8″ overall, with 112 1/4″ between the columns. The inside figure governs door swing and whether a technician can still get down the side of a wide vehicle.
  • Drive-through. 100 3/4″ between the carriages. Check it against your widest regular vehicle, mirror to mirror.
  • Lowest pad. 3 1/2″ minimum pad height, quoted as 3.5″ elsewhere in the data - the same measurement, and low enough to slide under a normal sill.
  • Power. A 2.0HP motor on 220V, on its own breaker, in place before the lift is stood up.
  • Concrete. A base-plate lift still puts its entire load into two anchor patterns, so the slab specification in the installation manual is not optional reading. Check it before you order rather than after the crate lands, and if you do not know what your floor is made of, core it. Never anchor on a crack or across an expansion joint.

Four three-stage arms, and why the third stage earns its keep

All four arms telescope in three stages rather than two. On a short car the arms retract far enough to place a pad properly on the pinch weld instead of hanging past it; on a long-wheelbase truck they extend far enough to reach the frame. A two-stage arm set has to compromise at one end of that range, and the compromise always shows up as a badly placed pad on the vehicle you would least like to drop. Automatic arm restraints lock each arm in position as the lift rises, so an arm cannot creep or swing once a load is on it.

Two lock systems, one release handle

The BP-10 carries a dual locking system, and the single-point release frees the locks in both columns simultaneously from one position. The practical effect is that the operator never has to walk to the far side of a loaded vehicle to release a column - which is both quicker and one fewer opportunity to be standing in the wrong place. Synchronisation is by aircraft-quality cable, and the carriages ride on self-lubricating UHMW polyethylene sliders and bronze bushings. Slider material is the unglamorous thing that decides how a two-post ages, and self-lubricating surfaces are what stop one going noisy and stiff in year four.

Perfect For

  • Low-ceiling shops and garages that have been priced out of a full two-post by roof height alone. This is the buyer the BP-10 was designed for.
  • Bays with obstructions overhead - door tracks, ducting, sprinkler runs, lighting - where an overhead beam simply cannot go.
  • General repair work across cars, vans and light trucks up to the 10,000 lb rating.
  • Home garages where the ceiling was always the problem and the budget never was.

What is in the crate

  • Two columns and the base plate assembly
  • Four three-stage arms with automatic arm restraints
  • Single-point safety release and the dual locking system
  • Aircraft-quality synchronisation cable
  • Detachable foot guard and tool tray

Not supplied: the anchors are specified in the manual, the electrical circuit is yours, and slab work is yours. If you want extension adapters beyond the standard set, or a rolling jack to work alongside this lift, ask us before you order rather than after.

Certification, stated plainly

AMGO markets the BP-10 as CE approved and certified, meeting or exceeding European Standard EN-1493. Read that for exactly what it is. The CE marking is a manufacturer's own declaration of conformity against European directives. It is not the same document as a North American third-party lift safety listing, and it does not substitute for one. For a home garage, and for a great many independent shops, the distinction never comes up at all. It does come up for some commercial insurance policies, for fleet and municipal operations, and in jurisdictions whose code specifically names a listing. Establish what your insurer or your inspector requires before you order, not after two columns are anchored to your floor.

Shipping and delivery

The BP-10 travels by freight truck within the lower 48, and the freight is quoted live against your address at checkout rather than estimated in advance. Two columns and a base plate make a long, dense crate, and unloading it is the receiver's responsibility - a forklift with the capacity and the reach to take it off the trailer, or a collection booked from the carrier's local terminal, which is often the easier answer because the terminal already has the machine and the dock. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, applied at checkout when you choose it.

Inspect before signing. Sight along the columns for bends, check the base plate for damage, look for missing banding and for any trace of hydraulic oil, and write whatever you find on the bill of lading while the driver is still standing there. Photograph it as well. Once you have signed clean, the carrier has proof that the shipment arrived intact, and that is a hard document to argue with afterwards.

Warranty

AMGO covers the BP-10 with a five-year warranty on steel components, a three-year warranty on hydraulic parts and a two-year warranty on electrical components. How to open a claim with us is set out at mechanicsuperstore.com/pages/warranty-claims.

One rule holds for every hydraulic lift regardless of who built it: do not disassemble a power unit, a cylinder, a cable assembly or a lock mechanism before a claim has been opened. A stripped component is normally treated as a modified one, and that is the fastest route to losing cover you were otherwise entitled to. Photograph the fault, note the serial number off the column, and call us first.
