Description

AMGO XL-7: a 7,000 lb low-profile scissor lift built around a 24V control circuit

The XL-7 is a portable-class scissor lift rated at 7,000 lbs that reaches 78 3/4″ (2000 mm) at the top of the platform. The detail worth starting with is not the capacity — plenty of scissor lifts are rated at 7,000 lbs — it is that the operator's controls run on a 24V circuit. The buttons under your thumb are a low-voltage signal path, not the mains supply; the switching that moves the lift happens inside the power unit. On a machine you stand over while it descends, that is a real design decision.

It is a lift for a shop or a home garage that cannot give up floor space permanently: nothing bolted overhead, nothing crossing the bay, and it closes down far enough that most vehicles drive on over the supplied approach. How far exactly is one of three figures the published sources differ on — see Three figures to confirm before you order below before you plan a particular car around it.

What the 24V control circuit and the descent interlocks actually do

Three behaviours matter more than the voltage itself, and all three are about the descent.

First, the XL-7 carries a safety stop at 11 7/8″ (300 mm): the lift comes down to that height and stops. It is the point at which a foot, a creeper wheel or a dropped socket set is still recoverable — a lift that runs straight to the floor gives the operator no moment to look.

Second, taking the lift the rest of the way down requires both control buttons at once. Two hands on the console is two hands that are not under the platform; the inconvenience is the point.

Third, a tone alarm sounds during that final descent, aimed at everyone in the bay who is not the operator. Interlocks that only protect the person holding the buttons are the easy half of the problem.

Two independent locking systems, and why both are there

The XL-7 uses both a mechanical and a hydraulic locking system, answering different failure modes. Mechanical latches hold a parked load: once the lift is set down onto its locks, steel is carrying the vehicle. Hydraulic protection comes from hose burst valves fitted to the cylinders — if a line is cut or blows a fitting, the valve closes against the sudden flow instead of letting the platform drop at the speed of escaping oil.

Above them sits a pair of dual synchronous cylinders, one per platform, which is why a vehicle loading one side harder than the other still comes up level instead of as a tilt you then have to work under.

Will it fit?

Measure before you order — this is what causes returns on freight-shipped equipment, and it is the buyer's responsibility.

  • Floor footprint: 76 3/4″ (1950 mm) overall width and 80″ overall length, with 29 1/2″ between the runways and a runway length of 57 5/8″.
  • Closed height: given on this page as 4 1/2″ (115 mm) and on the specification sheet as 4 5/8″. Published figures differ here — it is covered below, and it is the figure that decides whether a low car loads at all.
  • Raised height: 78 3/4″ (2000 mm) at the top of the platform — about 6.5 ft. Your ceiling has to clear that plus the height of the tallest vehicle you intend to raise, plus whatever lighting hangs below the joists.
  • Slab: the installation manual states the concrete thickness and strength this lift requires. Check it against your floor, and if the slab is old, cracked, post-tensioned or unknown, get it assessed before the lift ships.
  • Power: a 2.0 HP power unit. Confirm the supply and connection with us before you order so you are not booking an electrician twice.

Three figures to confirm before you order

Published figures differ on three measurements: the description on this page, the specification sheet behind it, and AMGO's current published specification, which matches the sheet on two of the three. All of them are set out below, each against the source that publishes it.

  • Lift cycle. The description on this page gives 42 seconds; the specification sheet gives 50 seconds. AMGO's current published figure matches the slower of the two.
  • Minimum lowered height. The description gives 4 1/2″ (115 mm); the specification sheet gives 4 5/8″. AMGO's current published figure matches the higher of those, so the lift may not sit as low as the description suggests. Low-profile clearance is the reason most people buy this lift, so if you are buying the XL-7 for a specific low car, get the lowered height from us in writing before you order.
  • Gross weight. This page lists 1,982 lbs; AMGO publishes a heavier gross weight; the shipping weight on record is lower still — three figures for one measurement. Confirm it with us before you hire equipment for delivery day.

None of this is an argument against the XL-7. It is an argument for asking us first if one of those three figures is what your decision turns on.

Perfect for

  • The home garage that is also a garage. Nothing overhead, and it moves when you need the floor back.
  • A small independent shop adding a second position for brake, tyre and general undercar work without giving up a bay to a two-post installation.
  • Detail and body operations needing a vehicle at a comfortable working height quickly and repeatedly.
  • Anyone who wants the safety stack. The two-lock design, hose burst valves, descent stop and two-hand lowering are the reason to choose this over a bare-minimum scissor.

What comes with it

The XL-7 arrives as the lift itself with everything described above fitted as standard: the two synchronous cylinders, the hose burst valves, the mechanical and hydraulic locks, the 24V control system, the descent safety stop and the tone alarm. We will not list adapters or accessory packs our data does not confirm are in the crate — if a specific one matters, ask us and we will check the packing list.

Certification, stated honestly

Our data for the XL-7 does not record a third-party safety listing for this lift, and we are not going to imply one. The distinction is invisible to most private buyers and decisive for a few: some commercial insurance policies, some fleet operations and some local jurisdictions require an independent lift safety listing by name, and a manufacturer's own declaration of conformity is not the same document. If yours specifies a listing, tell us which before you order and we will get a written answer from the manufacturer.

Shipping and delivery

The XL-7 ships as freight within the lower 48. The rate is fetched live from the carrier for your address at checkout — a number typed into a description goes stale and turns into an argument later.

Plan the unload before the truck is booked. Getting the crate from the trailer onto your floor is the receiver's job; a forklift makes it quick. Without one, choose terminal pickup and let the carrier's equipment do the lifting, or collect from the AMGO warehouse locations listed further down this page. A residential delivery address carries a residential fee, shown at checkout.

Inspect the crate with the driver there. Torn wrap, crushed corners, broken banding or any sign the load shifted goes on the bill of lading before you sign. Photographs at the tailgate carry weight in a freight claim; a phone call a week later does not.

Warranty

AMGO covers the XL-7 with five years on steel components, three years on hydraulic parts and two years on electrical components. One rule protects those terms: do not dismantle a power unit, cylinder, valve or hose assembly before a claim is opened. A part taken apart is treated as a modified part, and a straightforward replacement becomes a negotiation. Photograph the fault, take the serial number off the frame, and call us first.

Product Features

  • 24V control system for safety operation
  • 2-Dual synchronous cylinders are applied to assure the lifting level on both platforms
