Replacement Buoyancy Ring for Surface Skimmer

The Atlantic Water Gardens AquaSkim float ring is the replacement buoyancy component that maintains the Oase AquaSkim surface skimmer at the correct water surface level. The float ring keeps the skimmer's intake weir positioned precisely at the water surface — ensuring the skimmer draws surface film, floating debris, and pollen rather than bulk subsurface water. A waterlogged or damaged float ring causes the skimmer to sink below the surface, dramatically reducing surface skimming efficiency.

Correct Water Line Position Is Everything

The AquaSkim's entire function depends on the intake weir sitting at the water surface — within millimetres. Too deep and the skimmer pulls bulk water rather than surface film; too shallow and the intake is exposed to air and the pump runs dry. The float ring maintains this critical positioning automatically as pond water levels fluctuate through evaporation, rainfall, and seasonal changes. When the float ring is compromised, the skimmer loses this automatic levelling ability. Replace the float ring as soon as the skimmer noticeably sinks or floats unevenly.

How to Replace

Remove the AquaSkim from the pond. Release the float ring from the skimmer body per the AquaSkim disassembly guide. Install the new float ring and confirm it is securely attached. Return the skimmer to the pond and observe its floating position — the intake weir should sit flush with the water surface. Adjust the installation depth if needed to achieve the correct weir position.
