Description
Atlas ATTD-414 — sized for duallies, and the numbers to prove it
The ATTD-414 is a 14,000 lb commercial four-post, and what actually distinguishes it is not the capacity number, which several lifts share. It is the geometry. The runway plate is 8 3/4" thick. The drive-through opening is 102 1/8" (8' 6 1/8") measured between the carriages, with 116" (9' 8") of clearance between the columns, and the runways sit 46 7/8" apart. Those are dual-rear-wheel dimensions. A truck that has to be threaded onto a narrower lift with a spotter simply drives onto this one.
The runways are diamond plate rather than smooth steel, which is a small detail that matters every time a technician walks up one with oil on a boot. Whoever specified this lift was thinking about the person on the runway as well as the vehicle on it.
Will It Fit Your Shop?
The ATTD-414 is a big lift and it needs to be planned for rather than squeezed in.
- Concrete: a minimum of 6" at 3,000 PSI. Verifying your slab is the customer’s responsibility and it is worth doing properly — an unknown floor is the usual reason an installation is abandoned on the day the lift arrives.
- Ceiling: columns stand 91 1/8" (7' 7 1/8"). The runways rise to 80" (6' 8"), leaving 71 1/4" (5' 11 1/4") of clear space underneath.
- Floor area: 130 7/8" (10' 10 7/8") across the columns without the motor, 138 7/8" (11' 6 7/8") with it, by 255" (21' 3") long including the approach ramp. Leave yourself room to drive off the ramp, not just to park the lift.
- Services: 220 volt single phase on a 30 amp breaker, an external air supply at 85–115 PSI for the lock release, and 3–5 gallons of AW32 or AW46 hydraulic oil, which is not included.
Maximum wheelbase is 197" (16' 5"). Runways are 20" wide and 208 5/8" (17' 4 5/8") long, measuring 86 7/8" (7' 2 7/8") across the outside of the pair.
Why the drive-through number is the one to check first
Buyers compare capacity because it is the headline. In practice a shop rarely runs out of capacity on a four-post; it runs out of width. The moment a customer arrives in a one-ton dually or a box van, the question is whether the vehicle can pass between the carriages at all, and no amount of rated capacity helps if it cannot. At 102 1/8" (8' 6 1/8") between the carriages this lift takes that traffic without a spotter walking beside the mirror. If your work is passenger cars and half-ton pickups you will never touch that limit — but the day a fleet contract turns up, you will not be buying a second lift.
A lift you can add to later
Two accessories exist for this model and both are sold separately, which is worth knowing before you order rather than after. Additional drive-off ramps let a vehicle exit forwards instead of reversing down the approach ramp — useful in a bay with a wall behind it. Runway extensions add usable length for a longer chassis. The runways also carry tracks for a rolling bridge jack, such as the Atlas RJ8000BK, which is how you get the wheels off the ground for brake and tire work. A four-post with no bridge jack cannot do wheel-off jobs at all, so budget for one at the same time.
Lifting is by high-strength cable driven from a hydraulic cylinder mounted beneath the runway. Keeping the cylinder under the deck rather than out in the open between the runways removes the obstruction that older four-post layouts put at exactly the height of an opening car door. Safety is a lock ladder with a double lock system, released from a single air-operated point so all four corners come off the locks together instead of one at a time.
Perfect For
- Commercial repair shops handling a mixed book of cars, pickups and light commercial vehicles on one lift.
- Fleet and municipal maintenance, where the vehicles are wide, heavy and all arrive on the same morning.
- Truck and van specialists who need the 197" wheelbase and the dually-width drive-through as a matter of routine.
- Storage and staging alongside service, using the 71 1/4" of clearance under the runways.
What’s in the Box
Steel approach ramps and mounting hardware are included. Hydraulic oil, the compressed air supply, the rolling bridge jack, extra drive-off ramps and runway extensions are all separate purchases. Shipping weight is 3,100 lb.

Certification, stated plainly
Atlas does not publish an independent third-party safety listing for the ATTD-414. It is built to commercial-grade standards and tested by the manufacturer at its rated capacity, but a manufacturer’s own testing and an outside body’s listing are different documents, and only the second one satisfies a policy that asks for it by name. Some commercial insurers, fleet programmes and local jurisdictions do ask. Atlas builds four-post lifts in this capacity class that carry the independent listing — if that is a requirement for your business, say so before you order and we will point you at those instead. We would rather lose this sale than sell you a lift your inspector will not accept.
Shipping and delivery
Freight only, lower 48 states, with the rate quoted live at checkout against your delivery address. At 3,100 lb you need a forklift or a loading dock, or you take terminal pickup and collect the crate yourself. A residential address carries a residential fee. Check the shipment over before you sign for it and write any damage on the bill of lading at the kerb — once a clean BOL is signed the carrier is entitled to treat the delivery as sound, and reopening it afterwards rarely works.
Warranty
5 years structural and 2 years hydraulic, parts only. Parts only means Atlas ships the component and the labour to fit it is yours. If a cylinder, cable or power unit fails, open the claim before you take it apart — once a part is disassembled it cannot be assessed, and that is what turns a straightforward claim into a dispute.
