Atlas Garage PRO9000: The Portable Four-Post That Can Still Get the Wheels Off

A four-post lift holds a vehicle by its tires, which is excellent for storage and inspection and useless the moment you need a wheel off. The usual answer is a rolling bridge jack, and the usual problem is that most portable four-post lifts have nowhere to put one.

The PRO9000 is the only lift in the Garage PRO series built with tracks between the runways to take a rolling bridge jack, such as the Atlas RJ6BK. That one structural difference is what turns a parking and storage lift into something you can do brake and suspension work on — and it is the reason to look at this model rather than the one below it in the range.

The second reason is size. It is roughly 600 lb heavier than the Garage PRO8000, and that weight is in longer runways, wider spacing and taller columns rather than in packaging.

Will It Fit? Measure These Before You Order

Four-post lifts fail the fitment test on length far more often than on height. Take the numbers below to the building, not to memory.

  • Overall length with the approach ramp: 227 1/2" (18' 11 1/2"). This is the figure that catches people. The lift is nearly nineteen feet long with the ramp down, and you still need room to walk past the end of it.
  • Overall width: 123 1/2" (10' 3 1/2") without the motor, 131 1/2" (10' 11 1/2") with it. Site the power unit deliberately — that extra width is on one side and it is the side you cannot park a toolbox on.
  • Column height: 95 3/4" (7' 11 3/4"). Your ceiling has to clear the columns plus the vehicle you intend to park on the runways.
  • Lifting height to the top of the runway: 85" (7' 1"), with 80 1/4" (6' 8 1/4") of clearance under the runways. If the purpose is storing one vehicle above another, that clearance figure — not the lifting height — is the one to measure your lower car against.
  • Maximum wheelbase: 187" (15' 7"). Check your longest vehicle, not your usual one.
  • Drive-through, outside of tire to outside of tire: 97 1/4" (8' 1 1/4"), with 110 1/2" (9' 2 1/2") of clearance between the columns and 184 1/2" (15' 4 1/2") between them lengthwise.
  • Runways: 199 1/2" (16' 7 1/2") long, 20" of driving surface (21 1/4" including the rails), 4 3/4" thick, with 35 1/2" (2' 11 1/2") between the rails and 79" (6' 7") across the outside. How far apart the two runways sit is listed on this page as 39 3/4" (3' 3 3/4") — a figure the manufacturer publishes narrower, so read the note below before you measure a vehicle against it.
  • Approach ramp: 31" (2' 7"). Add it to the length above and to your driving line.
  • Power: 110 volt, and a 30 AMP breaker is required. Not recommended — required. Confirm the circuit before delivery; this is the most common reason a lift sits unused for a week after it arrives.

Confirming that your floor is sound, level and appropriate for a free-standing lift is the buyer's responsibility. The installation manual for this model is linked further down this page.

The gap between the runways is disputed — check it against your track width

A four-post lift is two steel strips with an open channel down the middle, and a vehicle only ever touches the strips. How far apart they sit decides whether a narrow-track car straddles that channel comfortably or lines a tire up close to an inside edge, and whether a wide-track truck keeps its rubber fully on the plate instead of overhanging the outside. It is the four-post dimension worth checking with a tape across your own axles rather than taking on trust.

The spacing listed above, and in the table further down this page, is ours. The manufacturer's current published specification for this model gives a narrower distance between the runways. The two documents do not agree, and neither side has the obviously stronger claim — our figure is the one repeated across the trade, and the factory page is the one that is current. We are not going to average them, and we are not going to quietly adopt whichever reads better.

If your track width sits anywhere near the edge of the driving surface, or you plan to put a rolling bridge jack across the channel, ask us to confirm the runway spacing in writing before you order. We will get the current factory figure. On an ordinary car the difference is academic; on a narrow-track classic, a dually, or a jack bought to suit one span, it is the whole question.

Portable, and What That Actually Means

The caster kit with polyurethane wheels is included, not an accessory, and it can be fitted or removed in a matter of minutes. That is what makes the lift movable between bays or out of the building entirely — a useful property for a shop that needs the floor back occasionally, and for a home garage where the lift and the car both have to leave for a family event.

It is a free-standing design, so the lift is not anchored into the slab. The trade-off is honest: you gain the ability to move it and you take on the responsibility of siting it on a floor that is genuinely level.

Locks, and Why the Ladder Design Matters

The PRO9000 uses a lock ladder design with a double lock safety system and a single-point lock release. In practice, the lock ladder means the lift parks on a mechanical stop at defined heights rather than resting on hydraulic pressure — the hydraulics raise the lift, the steel holds it. The single-point release means all four locks are disengaged from one position instead of the operator walking the vehicle's perimeter releasing each column, which is exactly the routine where corners get cut.

Perfect For

  • Home garages storing two vehicles in one bay's footprint.
  • Enthusiasts who also do the work — this is the Garage PRO that accepts a rolling bridge jack.
  • Automotive service centres needing a professional four-post that is not a permanent building alteration.
  • Long-wheelbase and dually owners, which is what the extra length and width are for.

What Is Included

Caster kit with polyurethane wheels, steel approach ramps, a steel jack tray, four plastic drip trays and two rubber wheel chocks. The rolling bridge jack itself is a separate purchase — the tracks to take one are what this lift provides.

Certification, Honestly

No third-party lift safety listing is claimed in the product data we hold for this model, and we are not going to imply one. That is a statement about documentation, not about the steel. It matters because some commercial insurance policies, fleet operations and local jurisdictions specifically require lifting equipment that carries a recognized independent listing — this is a hobbyist-and-shop portable lift rather than a certified commercial installation, and if a policy or a code applies to you, verify the requirement before you buy.

Shipping and Delivery

Freight only within the lower 48 states, at 2,300 lbs on a long pallet. You must have a way to unload: a forklift, a loading dock, or collection from the carrier's terminal, which is often the practical answer for a residential address. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, quoted live at checkout rather than fixed in this description. Inspect the shipment thoroughly before signing — runway and column crates take knocks in transit — and write any damage onto the bill of lading while the driver is still there.

Warranty

2 yr structural and 1 yr hydraulic, parts only. Parts only means components are supplied under the warranty and labor is not, so factor your own time into the decision. If something fails inside the term, raise it with us before taking the assembly apart: a component that has already been dismantled is the most common reason a covered failure stops being simple to resolve.
