Atlas HI-RISE 1500: sold at 1,500 lbs, rated by the factory at 1,650

Start with the number, because it is the most unusual thing on this page. Atlas rates this lift at 1,650 lbs. We sell it as a 1,500 lbs lift, because our practice is to publish capacities below the manufacturer's rating rather than at it. That is not modesty and it is not a hedge. Published capacity is the number people buy against and then load to, and a margin that exists on paper but not in the buyer's head is not a margin. If you are choosing between this and something advertised at a bigger number, the honest comparison is between what each seller is prepared to stand behind, not between two headline figures.

Everything else here is a well-specified air/hydraulic motorcycle and ATV table with an unusually tall lift and both extension kits already in the crate.

Will It Fit?

• Working height. The page describes a lift height of 43 inches, while the feature list on the same page gives a full lift height of 42 1/2 inches. See the note below — the two figures are close, but they are not the same figure and we are not going to quietly pick one. Either way this is a tall table: the reason for it is that it brings the work up to a standing operator rather than a kneeling one, which on a full engine-out job is the difference between a day's work and a day's work plus a sore back.
• Air, not electricity. This is air/hydraulic. The pump is included; the air supply is not. It needs 100 PSI delivered from your own compressor. Confirm your compressor can hold that with a hose run to where the lift will stand, because a compressor that is adequate at the tank is not always adequate at the far end of the shop.
• Table length. The chopper extension is fitted as standard and takes the centre table to 100 3/4 inches long, which is what lets it take the longest custom bikes.
• Table width. With the side extension kit — also standard — the overall table width is 51 1/8 inches. That is the number that decides whether an ATV, a UTV, a golf cart or a ride-on mower sits on it properly, so measure track width before you order.
• Floor. It is free-standing with a wide base and four screw casters that lower to move it and retract for work. It wants flat, sound concrete; it does not want to be rolled across a slope on its casters with a bike on it.
• Delivery. 800 lbs crated.

Checking your compressor, your floor and your vehicle dimensions is the buyer's responsibility. Send us the widest and longest machine you intend to put on it and we will check it in writing before you order.

Two figures for the lift height, and what we are doing about it

Our own page carries the lift height twice and the two entries do not match: the description says 43 inches, the feature list says 42 1/2 inches. Half an inch will not change anyone's purchase, and that is precisely why it is worth saying out loud rather than tidying away — a page that silently picks the more attractive of two numbers has taught you nothing about how it treats the numbers that would change your purchase. Both figures stay on the page, attributed to where each came from, and neither is presented as the verified specification. If the exact raised height decides your buy, ask us in writing and we will get the current figure from Atlas.

Six locked heights, and a drop-out you will use

The table locks at six heights, which matters more on a bike lift than on a car lift: the right working height for a wheel-off job and the right height for a top-end job are different, and a lift with two positions makes you accept one of them. The rear section drops out, so a rear wheel, a sprocket, a belt or a chain can be worked on with the wheel hanging clear instead of jacked off the table. At the front there is an adjustable padded wheel vise, which holds the bike upright while your hands are elsewhere — the single most useful item on a motorcycle lift and the one most often sold separately elsewhere.

The surface is diamond plate, for grip underfoot and under a tyre while a bike is being pushed on.

No third-party lift safety listing is claimed for this table anywhere in our product data, and we will not imply one. If your insurer, your franchise agreement or your local authority requires a particular listing for a lift used commercially, ask us in writing before ordering and we will put the question to Atlas.

Shipping and delivery

This is a freight shipment inside the lower 48 states, quoted live at checkout rather than printed here, because freight rates move. Two things decide whether delivery day goes well. First, unloading is yours to arrange: a freight truck will not lift the crate off the trailer for you, so you need a forklift, a skid steer or a comparable machine at the delivery address, or you take the shipment at the carrier terminal instead. Tell us which before it ships. Second, inspect before you sign. Walk the crate, look for crushed corners, punctures, shifted banding and oil marks, and write anything you find on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves. A signed clean receipt is the carrier's proof that the freight arrived undamaged, and a concealed-damage claim raised afterwards is a far harder argument than three words written on the paperwork. Residential delivery is available and carries a residential fee. Warehouse pickup is available at our stocking locations if you would rather collect it.
