Atlas Platinum PVL10 ALI Certified Commercial Overhead 10,000 lb. Capacity 2 Post Car Lift
Atlas Platinum PVL10: A Certified Lift That Does Not Force Your Bay Layout
Two things set the PVL10 apart from the ordinary run of 10,000 lb overhead two-post lifts, and both of them are the kind of fact a buyer can check rather than a phrase from a brochure.
The first is that it is an ALI certified lift. That is third-party certification of a lift design against the North American standard, and it is not something every lift on the market carries. If you run a commercial shop, hold a policy that specifies certified equipment, or work under a jurisdiction that inspects for it, this is the box that has to be ticked — and it is ticked here.
The second is that the same lift can be installed symmetrically or asymmetrically. That is not a marketing option; it changes the bay. Symmetric puts the vehicle centred between the columns and suits trucks and long wheelbases. Asymmetric rotates the columns so the vehicle sits further back, which is what lets car doors open inside a two-post bay. Deciding after you have measured the bay, rather than at the point of ordering a specific model, is a real advantage on a lift that is going to be bolted down for a decade.
Will It Fit? The Numbers That Decide It
Because this lift can be configured two ways, several of its dimensions come in pairs. Check the configuration you intend to install, not the more convenient number.
- Ceiling. Overall height is listed on this page as 135 7/8" (11' 3 7/8") or 139 7/8" (11' 7 7/8") depending on build, and the cylinder extends to 12' 4". Which of those two you can actually order, and on what terms, is not settled — read the section directly below before you measure anything. Your ceiling must clear the taller of them, to the lowest obstruction over the bay.
- Floor width. 139" (11' 7") asymmetric, or 137 1/2" (11' 5 1/2") symmetric, outside column to outside column at 130" (10' 10") asymmetric and 129 1/4" symmetric.
- Drive-through. 91" asymmetric or 99 1/2" symmetric — the number that decides whether a wide vehicle can be driven between the columns.
- Inside the columns. 107 3/4" (8' 11 3/4") asymmetric or 112 1/2" (9' 4 1/2") symmetric.
- Rise. 72 1/2" maximum lift height without adapters, 81 1/2" with them, and a minimum arm height of 4" for low vehicles.
- Concrete. A minimum of 4" of concrete rated at 3000 psi. This is the requirement people discover late and it is not negotiable — verifying slab thickness, strength, age and condition is the buyer's responsibility, and a core test costs a fraction of a failed installation.
- Power. 220 volt single phase, with a 30 amp breaker recommended. Have the circuit confirmed by an electrician before the lift arrives.
- Oil. 3-5 gallons of AW32 or AW46 hydraulic oil, not included. Order it with the lift so the installation is not held up waiting on fluid.
Pin Down the Overall Height in Writing Before the Order Goes In
The two overall heights above are quoted on this page as though either one is simply a build you pick. Atlas's current listing does not present them that way: it sells the PVL10 at the taller of the two, and treats the lower overall height as a special low-height configuration that requires additional cables, purchased separately. We are not going to tell you which account is the correct one. We are telling you that the two accounts differ, and that the difference lands on the single dimension in this purchase you cannot revisit afterwards.
A ceiling does not move. If the lower height is the only one your building will accept, that has to be resolved before the crate is packed — not on installation day, when a fitter finds a part nobody quoted and the lift sits on its side until it arrives. Ask us to confirm in writing, before you order, which overall height you are buying and exactly what ships in the crate to achieve it. If the answer involves parts sold separately, put them on the same order rather than chasing them afterwards. It is a cheap question to ask before the order and an expensive one to ask after it.
Why the Column Shape Matters
The PVL10's columns are formed with a double "S" bend rather than being a plain box section. Bends add stiffness to sheet steel the same way a fold adds stiffness to a sheet of paper: the material does not change, the geometry does. In a lift column, that resistance to flexing under an off-centre load is what keeps the carriage running true through its travel rather than binding. The steel itself is 6mm thick in a 7" by 10 1/4" section, standing on a 15" by 18" base.
Safety Design You Will Actually Interact With
Two features on this lift are used every single cycle, so they are worth understanding. The single-point lock release unlocks the safety locks on both columns together from one position — the alternative, walking around the vehicle to release each column, is where operators improvise and improvisation is where accidents come from. A dual locking system backs it up, and automatic arm restraints engage as the arms take load so an arm cannot swing out from under a lifting point.
The carriages are padded and the sliders are self-lubricating UHMW polyethylene running on bronze bushings, which is a maintenance decision as much as a wear one: nothing on the carriage needs greasing on a schedule that somebody has to remember.
Arms and Adapters
Three-stage telescoping front arms and two-stage rear arms give the reach range to place pads under a low sports car and a full-size pickup on the same lift. Double screw-up adapters are included, with truck height extensions and protective rubber pads, and an 8 piece truck adapter set comes with the lift. Adapter heights are 3" and 6", four of each, and the arm hole and adapter peg size is 2".
Perfect For
- Commercial shops that need certified equipment for insurance or inspection reasons.
- Mixed fleets where the same bay sees a sedan in the morning and a three-quarter-ton truck in the afternoon.
- Dealership service departments standardising on one lift across bays with different layouts.
- Serious home garages with 220 volt service and a slab that meets the concrete requirement.
What Is Included
The lift, mounting hardware, double screw-up adapters, the 8 piece truck adapter set, a detachable foot guard and tool tray, and a premium ALLY power unit as standard. Hydraulic oil is not included.

Certification
This is an ALI certified lift, and it also carries CE approval against European Standard EN-1493. Those are two different instruments and it is worth knowing which one answers which question: the North American third-party certification is the one an insurer or inspector in the United States will normally be asking about, while the European marking is a declaration of conformity for a different market. If a policy or a local code names a specific certification, read the wording and confirm it against this lift before ordering — we would rather answer that question up front than after delivery.
Shipping and Delivery
Freight only, lower 48 states, at 1,850 lbs. You need a forklift, a loading dock, or a terminal pickup arranged before the shipment moves; a two-post lift is a long, heavy pallet and it is not a two-person unload. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, quoted live at checkout because freight pricing changes. Inspect the shipment before you sign for it and note any damage on the bill of lading in the driver's presence — that note is what a claim is built on. Installation, anchoring and the electrical connection are separate from delivery and should be booked in advance.
Warranty
Confirm the hydraulic warranty term with us in writing before you rely on it. Published terms differ: the feature list on this page states 5 yr structural, 2 yr hydraulic and 2 yr power unit, while the manufacturer's overview text states five years on steel components, three years on hydraulic parts and two years on electrical components. The structural term is five years either way; the hydraulic term is where the two differ. If the length of hydraulic cover bears on your purchase, ask us and we will get the current term straight from Atlas.
Whatever the term, one rule applies: contact us before dismantling a component you intend to claim on. A part that has already been taken apart is the most common reason a straightforward warranty claim becomes a difficult one.
