Product Description

iDEAL FP14KC-X: a 14,000 lb four-post you set up around the vehicles you actually work on

Most four-post service lifts arrive with their runway spacing already decided for you. The FP14KC-X does not. Its runways mount in a narrow or a wide position — 43" or 46" between them, and that one choice, made when the lift is bolted down, decides whether it suits a bay full of cars and crossovers or one that sees dual-rear-wheel pickups and long vans. Put that next to a 182.5" maximum wheelbase and 20" wide runways and you have a service lift fitted to the work rather than the other way round.

Underneath that it is a straightforward heavy four-post: 14,000 lbs of capacity, a cable lift system with slack-cable safety devices, 18 locking height positions, and a single-point pneumatic lock release so one technician lowers it from one place instead of walking four posts.

Will It Fit?

Four-post lifts are returned over measurements far more often than over capacity, and this model makes the check easier than most: the specification sheet publishes an explicit minimum bay size of 16' x 25'. Very few lift listings give you a room size at all.

  • Bay. Minimum bay size 16' x 25' — the room, not the lift.
  • Floor length and width. Overall length with the ramp is 252-1/2"; overall width is 142" with the power unit and 131-7/8" without it, so which side the power unit sits on is a real decision in a tight bay. Length between the posts is 196".
  • Ceiling. Overall height is 92-1/2" empty; maximum rise is 77-1/2" to the top of the runway. The roof has to clear the structure plus whatever you raise.
  • Drive-through. 96" between the carriages — the number that stops a wide dual-rear-wheel truck.
  • Runways and ramps. Runways are 20" wide and mount 43" or 46" apart. The approach ramps are 44" long, and that length has to live somewhere in front of the lift.
  • Power. 220V, 20 amp, single phase — not a household circuit. Budget for the electrical work if the bay does not have that supply.
  • Floor. Each post carries a 10-1/2" x 9" base plate onto a level concrete slab. We do not publish a concrete thickness or strength figure for this model and would rather say so than guess: it is stated in the installation manual, so if your slab is thin, cracked or unknown, ask us for that page before you buy.

Confirming the bay, the ceiling height and the electrical supply is the buyer's responsibility. A lift that does not fit the room is not a warranty matter.

Two runway positions, and why that is the reason to choose this one

Runway spacing is a compromise on every four-post. Close together, a narrow car sits nicely but a wide-track truck hangs its tyres over the edges; wide apart, the truck is happy while a small car needs careful placement to get a wheel on each runway at all. Because the FP14KC-X mounts at 43" or 46", you choose which compromise you live with.

A general repair shop usually takes the wide setting and accepts more care with small cars; a passenger-car specialist takes the narrow setting and gains a wider walkway either side. Decide before installation — this is not something you change on a Saturday afternoon.

Eighteen lock positions, one release, and lock stops you can level

A raised vehicle rests on mechanical locks, not on hydraulic pressure, and there are 18 locking height positions. That density is a working convenience: the closer the spacing, the nearer you can park the vehicle to the height that suits the job, instead of settling for whichever lock is nearest.

All of them release from a single point, pneumatically — on a lift used by one person, the difference between a controlled lowering and a walk round four columns disengaging catches by hand. The lock stops are fully adjustable, which is the quiet feature here: no workshop floor is perfectly flat, and adjustable stops are how all four corners end up level and evenly loaded once the lift is anchored. Slack cable safety devices act if a lifting cable ever loses tension.

Getting a vehicle on and off it is a one-person job too. The approach ramps are self-chocking and run on nylon rollers: they hold the vehicle at the point of drive-on rather than relying on the handbrake, and they move without the dragging that makes plain steel ramps a two-person lift. A pair of wheel chocks is included.

Perfect For

  • Independent general repair shops with a mixed vehicle list, where the choice of runway spacing is worth real money.
  • Truck and fleet work up to the 14,000 lb rating and the 182.5" wheelbase limit.
  • Tyre, exhaust, brake and underbody bays that want a drive-on lift a technician can run alone.
  • Serious home and collector garages with the ceiling, the floor and the 220V supply — check the 16' x 25' bay size first, because this is a full commercial footprint.

What's in the Box

Per the manufacturer's own feature list: the four-post structure in a powder coat finish, the cable lift system, slack cable safety devices, fully adjustable lock stops, the single-point pneumatic lock release, self-chocking approach ramps with nylon rollers, and one pair of wheel chocks. Rolling bridge jacks, drip trays and alignment equipment are separate — if you want wheels-off work, budget for a jack too.

One number to confirm with us in writing before you book freight

The specification sheet gives a shipping weight of 2,690 lbs and that is the figure we publish. One of our own internal records carries a very much lower weight for the same model — low enough to be plainly a placeholder left by a data import rather than a measurement of a fourteen-thousand-pound four-post. This matters because a shipping weight is what a delivery is planned around: the equipment hired to get the crates off the truck, and whether a terminal collection is realistic. Ask us to confirm the crated weight in writing before you arrange anything to unload it with. Nothing about the rated capacity is in question — this is a freight-planning number, not a performance one.

Certification, stated plainly

Our data for the FP14KC-X does not record a third-party safety listing for this model, and we are not going to imply one. The distinction matters: a manufacturer's own declaration that a product meets a standard is not the same document as an independent North American lift safety listing from an outside body, and in some settings only the second counts. Insurers write it into policies, fleet and municipal contracts ask for it, a few jurisdictions require it. If that is you, find out what your policy or inspector requires and ask us to confirm what this model carries before you order.

Shipping and delivery

This lift ships as freight to the lower 48, quoted live at checkout rather than baked into a page months ago. Two things decide whether delivery goes smoothly. First, you need a way to get crated steel off a trailer — a forklift, a telehandler, or enough hands and equipment to do it safely; if you have none of those, take terminal pickup and collect it yourself. Second, delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, so say up front if the delivery point is a home. Walk the crates before you sign: check packaging, count and visible damage, and write what you find on the bill of lading. Noting damage at the kerb costs nothing; arguing after a clean signature is very hard.

Warranty

The manufacturer's warranty applies and the current terms are on our warranty claims page. We have not restated a term length — read the version in force on the day you buy rather than a number copied around the internet. One warning that applies to every lift we sell: do not disassemble a component before a claim is agreed. Photograph the fault and the serial plate and call us first.
