Description
iDEAL PSB-SEMIDD26B-AK semi down draft spray booth
Read the fan specification on a spray booth before you read the airflow number. This one is a UL Listed Dayton 30" tube-axial exhaust fan with spark resistant blades, driven by a NEMA rated 3HP-3 Phase motor on 230/460VAC-60Hz, and the booth as a whole is built to meet NFPA 33 standards. Those are not marketing lines. You are proposing to fill an enclosed room with atomised solvent and then move 12,200 CFM of it through a fan, and every part of the exhaust path that could produce a spark is the part that decides whether that is a paint booth or an incident.
Everything else about this booth — the panels, the lighting, the doors — follows from that starting point.
Semi down draft, and who it suits
Air enters high at the front and is drawn down and back through the work, exiting at the rear, so overspray is pulled away from the painter and away from the freshly coated surface rather than carried across it — and without the pit, sub-floor plenum or excavation a full downdraft installation demands.
Airflow is rated at 12,200 CFM at .5 static pressure. Static pressure is the qualifier that makes that number honest — a fan quoted with no static pressure figure is quoted moving air against no resistance, which is not a condition any booth with filters in it ever experiences.
Panels that bolt, not weld
The shell is heavy duty precision punched 18 gauge panelling assembled with a 5/16" bolt and nut system, finished in bright white powder coat inside and out. Precision punched matters at assembly: the holes line up, so the booth goes together in a predictable number of days rather than being persuaded into square on site. Bolted construction also means the structure can come apart again — which is the difference between a booth being an asset and being a fixture, if you ever move premises.
White powder coat on both faces is a working decision rather than a cosmetic one: interior reflectance is a real part of how well lit the work is, and a powder coated surface wipes down instead of holding overspray.
Lighting, which is what the finish is judged by
Ten LDPI Industrial Lighting T-8 vertical fixtures, four lamps each, carrying forty GE T8 lamps at 32W and 5000K in a 4' length. Vertical fixtures in a commercial grade hip panel arrangement light the sides of a vehicle, where nearly every defect a customer notices actually lives — a booth lit only from overhead flatters the horizontal panels and hides the doors. And 5000K is daylight-neutral, the colour temperature you want when judging a metallic against a chip.
Doors and controls
Tri-fold entry doors and a personnel door each carry viewing windows and a shutoff switch — an interlock that takes the booth out of its spray state rather than leaving it running and open to the shop. A deluxe control panel is included, along with a manometer, solenoid valve, hardware and sealant. The manometer is the instrument that tells you when the filters have loaded: booths lose airflow gradually and invisibly, and a differential pressure reading is the only honest warning before the finish delivers one.
Will It Fit?
- Outside dimensions: 29'-4"L x 14'-4"W x 9'-7"H. That is the footprint the building has to give up, and the height that has to clear everything overhead including your own lighting and ductwork.
- Inside: 14' wide and 9'-3" high in the working space.
- Inside length: see the note below before you plan the bay — our two data sources disagree and we are not going to publish a figure we cannot stand behind.
- Power: 3HP-3 Phase, 230/460VAC-60Hz motors are standard. A single phase electrical configuration is offered as an option if 3 Phase is not available in your building — worth deciding at order time rather than after.
- Exhaust: a 9' exhaust extension kit is available in 3 pieces with a 25" diameter, for getting the discharge to the roof or through the wall.
- Compliance: installation is subject to your local authority, your fire official and your insurer. That is the buyer's responsibility, and it is worth a conversation with all three before ordering rather than after the crates arrive.
Confirm the inside length in writing
The feature list and the specification table disagree about the unit of the inside length figure — one reads it as inches and the other as feet, which cannot both be right for a booth of this footprint. Rather than choose the plausible one, we are telling you it is unresolved. Ask us to confirm the inside length in writing before you commit floor space, because on a booth this is the measurement that decides whether the vehicles you actually paint will fit in it.
Built to be heated later
A plenum kit is required if you add a booth heater, and a canopy is available. Gas fired and electric booth heaters are both offered in single and three phase configurations. If heating is a second-phase project rather than a day-one purchase, this booth is designed for that — but check the plenum requirement now, because it is much easier to plan than to retrofit.
Perfect For
- Collision and refinish shops wanting downdraft-style airflow without excavating a pit.
- Restoration and custom operations where the finish is the product and side lighting decides whether it passes.
- Fleet and municipal paint shops running larger vehicles through a repeatable process.
- Buyers planning in stages — booth first, heater and extensions later.

Approvals, stated precisely
Two claims appear in this booth's own data and they cover different things. The exhaust fan is UL Listed — a third-party listing on that component. The booth is stated to meet NFPA 33, the fire protection standard for spray application using flammable materials, and the motor is NEMA rated and non-sparking.
What none of that does is speak for your installation. A booth that meets a standard on paper still has to be installed, ducted, electrically connected and inspected in a way your local fire official and your insurer accept, and that approval is site-specific. Before you order, confirm with them what they will require, and ask us in writing for whatever compliance documentation exists for this exact model.
Shipping and Delivery
A booth ships as freight to the lower 48 on multiple pallets, quoted live at checkout against your delivery address — no figure is printed here because carrier pricing moves and a stale number becomes a dispute. Warehouse pickup from our Valor, Tuxedo and iDeal locations is available.
You will need a forklift and people at your end, or a terminal pickup arranged instead — panel crates are heavy, awkward and easy to damage with the wrong equipment. Count the pallets against the delivery paperwork before you sign anything, and write any damage on the receipt while the driver is still on site. On a bolt-together structure a bent panel is not cosmetic; it is a panel that will not line up, so inspect the stack rather than glancing at it.
Warranty
No warranty term is published on this listing, so we do not state one here. Ask us for the current written terms before ordering — on a booth it is worth knowing separately what the structure carries and what the fan, motor and control components carry, since those are usually not the same. Our claims process is on the warranty claims page. If a fan, motor or control component fails, raise the claim before anyone opens it: on listed electrical equipment, dismantling can void both the claim and the listing itself.
