Description

Katool KT-X66: a portable mid-rise that arrives with both adaptor stacks

Most mid-rise scissor lifts are sold bare, and the pad adaptors that make them usable on more than one kind of vehicle are a separate line on the invoice. The KT-X66 comes with two support adaptor sets in the crate: a +3" (75 mm) stack and a +6.25" (160 mm) stack. That is the practical difference between a lift that picks up a low car on its bare pads and one that also reaches the pinch welds on a raised pickup or a body-on-frame SUV without anything improvised underneath.

The rest of the machine is built to match. It rolls to where the work is instead of living in one bay, and Katool publishes an overload figure rather than leaving strength as an adjective: 115% dynamic and 150% static loading. For a detailing shop, a tyre bay, or a home garage where a full-height two-post lift will never fit under the roof, it is the format that actually gets used.

Confirm the rated capacity before you load this lift

Do not put a vehicle on this lift at the higher of the two published capacities until we have confirmed in writing which one applies to your unit. Published capacities differ: the feature list on this page, and the model name itself, state 6,600 lbs (3,000 KG); the user manual Katool publishes for the KT-X66 states a lower rated load.

The gap between the two ratings is not a rounding difference, and overloading a scissor lift is the failure mode that gives the least warning. Tell us the serial number on your unit, or the one you are about to order, and we will get the rated capacity from Katool in writing. If the heaviest vehicle you intend to lift sits anywhere near either figure, settle it before you order rather than after the crate is on your floor.

Will It Fit?

A mid-rise is easier to place than a two-post, but it is not free of constraints, and every one of these is yours to confirm before the truck arrives. We cannot see your floor or your building.

  • Floor footprint. The lift is 91.54" (2,325 mm) long and 41.89" (1,064 mm) wide overall, with a platform width of 39.57" (1,005 mm). Leave working room on both sides — a bay sized to the exact footprint is a bay you cannot walk around with a transmission jack.
  • Height when it is down. Minimum height is 4.72" (120 mm). That is what decides whether a low car can be driven or pushed over it without a ramp under the nose.
  • Height when it is up. Two figures are published for this lift and they do not agree. The manufacturer's summary quotes a 48-inch maximum lifting height; the specification table on this page gives 47.24" (1,200 mm). The gap is small but it is real, so plan your working height against the lower figure and ask us to confirm against the current factory sheet if the last inch matters to you.
  • Power. The hydraulic power unit is offered in 220V/60HZ/1PH and 110V/60HZ/1PH configurations. Decide which one you need before the lift ships — swapping a power unit after delivery is not a five-minute job.
  • Floor condition. This listing does not publish a concrete thickness or strength requirement, and we are not going to invent one. What a portable mid-rise does need is a flat, level, sound slab with no crack or joint running under the frame, because everything it lifts is carried on a small footprint.
  • Moving it. Net weight is 1,212 lbs (550 KG). Portable means it rolls on a hard, level floor once it is set up. It does not mean one person carries it into the garage.

Two adaptor stacks, and why that matters more than capacity

Capacity is rarely what stops a mid-rise from doing a job. Reach is. A modern crossover sits high enough that a bare pad has to travel a long way before it touches a rocker, while a low car needs the pad as flat as it will go. The +3" (75 mm) set covers the first case and the +6.25" (160 mm) set covers the awkward end of it, and because both come with the lift you are not choosing between them at the point of sale. Set the pads to the vehicle's designated lift points, not to whatever piece of the underbody is nearest.

A manual safety release, and bushings that look after themselves

The safety mechanism on this lift is deliberately simple: mechanical locks hold the load and the release is manual. There is no control board deciding when the lift may come down. On a machine that gets moved around a shop and plugged into whatever outlet is nearest, simple is a feature — there is less to go wrong, and what does go wrong is visible.

The pivots run on self-lubricated bushings and bearings. In a busy shop that translates into one less item on the maintenance card: no grease schedule for the scissor pivots, and less of the dry-pivot squeak and uneven travel that eventually shows up on a mid-rise nobody has serviced. It does not mean no maintenance at all — the hydraulics and the lock mechanism still want looking at.

What the overload numbers actually say

Katool states that the KT-X66 has been through a 115% dynamic loading standard and a 150% static loading test. Read that as headroom in the structure rather than as permission: it means the design was loaded well past its rating in testing, not that you may exceed the rating in the bay. The number on the plate is the number that governs your day.

Perfect For

  • Detailing and reconditioning shops, where the vehicle needs to come up to a comfortable height for wheels, sills and lower panels rather than to full standing height.
  • Tyre, brake and suspension work on cars and light trucks, which is most of what a mid-rise is bought for.
  • Home garages with a low or finished ceiling, where a full-height lift is not an option and a jack and stands are the current answer.
  • Shops with more bays than lifts, where being able to move the lift to the vehicle is worth more than having it bolted down.

Certification, stated plainly

Katool markets the KT-X66 as CE approved and certified, tested to the 115% dynamic and 150% static loading figures above. Take that for exactly what it is worth. CE is a European conformity marking that rests on the manufacturer's own declaration against European directives. It is not the same document as a North American third-party lift safety listing, and it is not a substitute for one. For a private garage, and for a great many independent shops, the distinction never comes up. It does come up for some commercial insurance policies, for some fleet and municipal operations, and for jurisdictions whose code names a specific listing. Check what your insurer, your inspector or your employer actually requires before you order rather than after the lift is on your floor.

Shipping and delivery

This lift travels by freight truck to addresses in the lower 48 states. Freight is quoted live at checkout against the address you enter, so the figure you see is a current carrier rate rather than a stale estimate. It arrives crated on a standard trailer and getting it to the ground is the receiver's job, so you need a forklift, a machine, or a plan and some help. If that is not realistic where you are, collecting from the carrier's local terminal is usually the easier route, because the terminal already has the equipment. Delivery to a residential address carries a residential fee, applied at checkout when you choose that option.

Inspect the shipment before you sign for it. Walk the crate, look for crushed corners, gouges, shifted banding and oil, and write anything you find on the bill of lading while the driver is still standing there. Photograph it. A clean signature is the carrier's evidence that the freight arrived intact, and it is very hard to argue with afterwards.

Warranty

Katool publishes a written warranty document covering this lift. We have not restated its terms here because the terms are the manufacturer's to state — ask us for the current copy before you order if the coverage matters to your decision, and we will send it. One warning applies to every hydraulic lift regardless of who built it: if something fails, do not take the power unit, a cylinder or the lock mechanism apart before a claim is open. A disassembled component is normally treated as a modified one, and that is the quickest way to lose coverage you would otherwise have had. Photograph the fault, note the serial number, and call first.
