SainSmart MEGA2560 R3
In addition to all the features of the previous board, the MEGA now uses an ATMega16U2 instead of the ATMega8U2 chip. This allows for faster transfer rates and more memory. No drivers are needed for Linux or Mac (an INF file for Windows is included in the Arduino IDE), and it has the ability to make the Uno show up as a keyboard, mouse, joystick, etc.

  • 1.0 pinout: added SDA and SCL pins near the AREF pin and two other new pins near the RESET pin, the IOREF that allows shields to adapt to the voltage provided from the board. In the future, shields will be compatible with both boards that use AVR, operating at 5V, and the Arduino Due, which operates at 3.3V. The second one is a not connected pin, reserved for future purposes.
  • Stronger RESET circuit.
  • Atmega 16U2 replaces the 8U2.
