Description
The vehicle list is the specification
Most calibration accessories are sold with a vague promise of broad compatibility. TOPDON does the opposite with the Mobile ACC Target, part LAM05-02: it publishes the makes by name. Adaptive cruise control calibration is supported on Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat, BMW, Rolls-Royce, Porsche, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Mini, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Infiniti, Mitsubishi and Suzuki vehicles.
That list is worth reading twice before you buy, because it is the honest answer to the only question that matters with a calibration target: will it do the cars that come through my door? Sixteen named marques is a specific commitment, and the absences are as informative as the entries. If the makes you see most are not on it, this is not your target and we would rather you knew that now.
Why adaptive cruise control needs a target at all
Adaptive cruise control works by watching the road ahead and measuring the gap to the vehicle in front — through a forward-facing sensor, usually behind the grille or the badge, radar-based on most systems and camera-assisted on some. Everything the system does afterwards depends on that sensor knowing precisely where it is pointing relative to the direction the car is actually travelling.
A very small angular error becomes a very large error at distance. A sensor aimed fractionally off-centre is looking at the next lane by the time its beam reaches the range at which the system makes decisions, which is how you get an ACC that brakes for traffic that is not in your lane, or fails to see traffic that is. It is not a comfort complaint; on the systems that also provide forward collision warning or autonomous emergency braking, the same sensor is doing safety work.
Calibration is the procedure that re-establishes that aim. The vehicle is shown a target of known design at a defined position, and the system corrects its own reference. The target is the fixed, trustworthy thing in that equation.
When it has to be done
Any work that disturbs the sensor or the geometry it is mounted in:
- Front bumper or grille removal, replacement or repair
- Replacement or disturbance of the sensor module itself
- Front-end collision repair, however light
- Suspension work, alignment, or ride-height changes that alter the car's attitude
- Any diagnostic routine that instructs a calibration afterwards
The trap for a workshop is that this is often invisible. A bumper refit that looks perfect can leave an ACC sensor a degree out, and nothing on the dashboard will say so. The customer discovers it on a motorway.
Built for calibration away from a fixed bay
The product is named as a mobile ACC target, and that framing is the point: it is intended to be set up where the vehicle is rather than requiring the vehicle to come to a permanently installed rig. For a body shop without a dedicated calibration bay, or an operator who travels to dealer sites and fleet yards, that is the difference between owning the capability and subletting it.
What does not change is the discipline. A mobile calibration still needs level ground, clear and unobstructed space around the vehicle, lighting and surroundings that do not confuse the sensor, and a vehicle prepared to the manufacturer's stated condition — tyre pressures, load and ride height all move the aim you are calibrating. Doing it on sloping ground because that is where the car is parked produces a calibration that is precisely, confidently wrong.
Perfect For
- Body and collision shops working the European and Asian makes named above, where front-end repair and ACC calibration now travel together.
- Mobile ADAS operators going to the vehicle rather than the other way round.
- Independent specialists in the Volkswagen group, BMW or Hyundai-Kia families, all heavily represented on the supported list.
- Workshops already running a TOPDON diagnostic platform and adding ACC to camera calibration work they already do.
What's in the Box
The product data describes the target and its vehicle coverage and nothing else, so nothing else is claimed:
- No diagnostic scan tool is included — the calibration routine runs from a tool you already have.
- No stand, frame or positioning system is listed as supplied.
- No other target type is included; this is the ACC target, not a camera or surround-view target.
If you are unsure which frame or mounting your procedure expects, ask us before ordering. It is a much cheaper question than a return.

What is not published: no dimensions, weight, materials or positioning distances exist for this product in the data we hold, and no model-year ranges are given for the supported makes. We are not going to estimate any of them on a product whose accuracy is its entire function. Tell us the specific vehicles you need to cover and we will get the coverage and the setup requirement confirmed by TOPDON before you order.
Certification
No certification or third-party approval is claimed for this target in its data, and none is implied here. With calibration equipment the question that carries weight is procedural rather than certified: a calibration stands up only if it was performed with the target the vehicle manufacturer's routine specifies, in the conditions that routine specifies, and if that can be evidenced afterwards. Where an insurer, a manufacturer sign-off or a customer's warranty depends on the work, confirm this is the target their procedure names before you rely on it.
Shipping and Delivery
This item ships free within the lower 48 states, so there is nothing to add at checkout. No amount is printed here, because carrier pricing changes and a fixed figure in a description would simply be wrong later.
Examine this carefully at the point of delivery, not afterwards. A calibration target is a precision surface in a flat package, which is exactly the shape that gets leaned on, stacked under and bent in a trailer. Check the whole face for bowing, creasing, abrasion and impact marks, and record anything at all on the carrier's paperwork before you sign. Transit damage to a target does not announce itself — it just quietly biases every calibration performed with it afterwards.
Warranty
No warranty term for this product is recorded in our data, so this page does not quote one rather than guess. Ask and we will confirm it in writing; our warranty claims page sets out how claims are handled.
The practical advice matters more than the term here: store the target flat, supported and out of sunlight, and inspect its face before each use. The most common cause of a target going out of specification is not a manufacturing defect but a workshop storing it upright against a wall. That will not be a warranty claim, and it will not be visible in the calibrations it produces.
