Proper Use & Safety Guidelines

Intended Use
This parasol is designed to provide protection from solar radiation and is suitable for use in private households, hospitality venues, and similar environments. It must be installed and operated according to these instructions. Any use beyond the described applications is considered improper. We reserve the right to modify the product due to technical advancements. In this guide, the TEAKWOOD parasol may also be referred to as "the product" or "sunshade."

Safety Precautions

• UV Protection – The effectiveness of UV protection varies based on location and conditions. Additional sun protection measures may be necessary
• Wind Safety – Close the sunshade immediately in case of strong winds or gusts. Allowing it to flap in the wind may damage the fabric
• Supervision – Never leave the sunshade open and unattended
• Safe Operation – Ensure no people or objects are near the moving parts while opening, closing, or adjusting the canopy

Assembly & Setup

1) Unpacking the Parasol
Included in the package:

• Parasol with tie-rope (TEAKWOOD, material class 5) and top
• Operating instructions

⚠ Important: Dispose of packaging responsibly and keep it out of reach of children. Do not install any damaged components—if there is any damage, contact the transport provider immediately.

2) Positioning the Parasol
✔ Carefully place the parasol on a clean, flat surface.
✔ Due to its weight, at least three people are recommended for handling.

3) Assembly
✔ Securely screw the top onto the end of the pole.

4) Installing the Parasol

1. Place the parasol into the base.
2. Tighten the base tube clamp to secure it in place.

Operating the Parasol

1) Opening the Parasol

1. Remove the protective cover (if used).
2. Unfasten the binding belt/ribbon.
3. Use the cable system to open the parasol.
4. Insert the locking pin under the slider.
5. Relieve tension on the cable, wind it up, and hook it onto the slider.
   

⚠ Ensure the locking pin is fully inserted before use.

2) Closing the Parasol

1. Tension the cable and remove the locking pin.
2. Gently close the parasol.
3. Fold or wrap the fabric segments.
4. Secure the parasol with the binding belt/ribbon.
5. Apply the protective cover if needed.

⚠ Only pack or cover the parasol when it is completely dry to prevent damage.

• Always allow the parasol to dry fully while open to prevent mold and discoloration.
• Use a protective sleeve to shield the parasol and extend its lifespan.
• Only cover the parasol with the protective sleeve when completely dry to avoid moisture buildup.
• Do not machine wash the protective sleeve or use harsh chemicals for cleaning.
• Clean the parasol canopy as needed using lukewarm water, mild detergent, and a soft sponge.
• Avoid bleach or abrasive tools to prevent damage to the fabric.
• Periodically check and tighten all screws to ensure stability and durability.
• If the parasol is installed in an exposed or high-wind area, expect increased wear and tear, requiring more frequent maintenance.
• If repairs are needed, contact an authorized GLATZ partner and use only original GLATZ replacement parts for optimal performance.

Disassembly & Storage
⚠ WARNING: Risk of Tipping – Injury Hazard if the Parasol Falls Over

1. Fully close and securely tie the parasol.
2. Carefully disassemble it following the reverse order of installation.
3. Store the parasol horizontally, along with all accessories, in a dry, sheltered location when not in use for extended periods.

Orders can be canceled only before fabrication begins. Once production has started, cancellations cannot be accepted.

Warranty Policy

Warranty Coverage
Glatz AG products come with a limited warranty. Any defects in delivered items must be reported in writing within 14 days of receipt. After this period, warranty coverage is restricted to repairs only. Cancellations, replacements, or price adjustments are not permitted if the product can be repaired within a reasonable timeframe.

Warranty Period
Warranty and guarantee claims expire two years after the product has been handed over to the shipping carrier.

Liability Limitations
Glatz AG is only liable for damages in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct. Liability for indirect or consequential damages is expressly excluded.

Exceptions to Liability Limitations
The above limitations do not apply in cases involving:

• Injury to life, limb, or health
• Legal obligations under product liability laws
• Damages caused by gross negligence or intentional misconduct
