The RX3 Tornado Compact Smith Machine is the latest evolution of our RX3 lineup — combining the dynamic versatility of the Tornado Rack with the safety and precision of an integrated Smith machine, all within a compact, space-saving design.

This new model features our updated Smith Machine system with an enhanced range of motion, where the bar sits only 6.8 inches higher than a loaded barbell at its lowest point. This allows for deeper lifts, smoother performance, and better biomechanical flow. The bar stores at 6'6", giving you more overhead clearance and a cleaner setup for taller users. For added safety and control, the removable safety stoppers work like J-cups — keep them on for extra protection during heavy lifts, or remove them completely to unlock a full, unrestricted range of motion.

The 48 LB, 28 mm chrome Smith bar includes 13 inches of loadable sleeve space per side and features chrome hooks and pins for a premium lifting feel. The rack also comes equipped with our patent-pending Tornado Pivot Arms, offering full 4-way adjustability to better target every muscle group. You can position them outward for deeper chest flys, angle them inward for shrugs or rows, or move them overhead for lat pulldowns — giving you a wider range of motion and more training variety than traditional fixed cable systems.

Built from 3"x3" 11-gauge steel with 1-inch holes and 2-inch spacing, the RX3 Tornado Compact Smith Machine delivers the strength, precision, and long-term reliability that define the RX3 series.

Like other RX3 systems, this model can be expanded with storage options. You can add shelves and plate sleeves on the back uprights by using our Shelf and Plate Sleeve Extension brackets, allowing you to customize your setup as your training needs grow.

TORNADO X KEY FEATURES

DUAL 2:1 & 1:1 WEIGHT RATIOS

Switch between 2:1 and 1:1 resistance in seconds to match the way you train. Use 2:1 for smoother movement, longer cable travel, and smaller weight increments, or switch to 1:1 to unlock the full weight stack for heavier strength-focused exercises.

300 LB RESISTANCE FROM A 200 LB STACK

Combine the 1:1 and 2:1 pull points to create a 1:1.5 cable ratio and generate up to 300 lb of effective resistance from a single 200 lb stack. Get more resistance for heavy rows, belt squats, presses, and other strength movements without adding more weight to your stack.

TRUE-CENTER LINE OF PULL

Tornado X positions the cable directly in line with the center of the upright, creating a balanced and symmetrical line of pull. This centered cable path provides a more natural feel during lat pulldowns, low rows, and other movements where proper alignment matters.

SEMI-DEDICATED LAT PULL & LOW ROW

Set up lat pulldowns and low rows directly from a single Tornado X Arm and weight stack. Just adjust the trolley height and position the arm toward the center, without connecting both sides or adding extra pulleys.

SELF-RIGHTING DESIGN

The Tornado X Arm automatically returns to its proper orientation when cable tension is released. This self-righting design helps maintain cable alignment, reduces unwanted twisting, and keeps the arm properly positioned as you move between exercises and angles.

IMPROVED CABLE TRACKING & SMOOTHNESS

An updated front-end pulley, swivel shackle, and ultra-flexible cable help keep the cable properly aligned as the Tornado X Arm changes position. The redesigned system reduces unnecessary cable twisting and friction for smoother, more consistent cable travel throughout your training.
